The quench speed of #50 is around 7 seconds, if I recall correctly. It is fast enough that the blade makes that "screaming" noise like it does in water.11-13 second oil can leave the interior of thicker portions of big W2 blades not fully hardened. When I am quenching W2 or 1084, i dunk and agitate for 10-12 seconds or so and then it is cool enough to straighten byhand if it needs it.......with gloves of course
