Part 1 of my techniques for making liner lock folders

Kit, you need to get Gene Lee over to your place.

Kit or Darrell,

One of you need to 'stick' this thread so it stays at the top of the forum for easy viewing.

:)

Excellent job Kit! Thanks for sharing a lifetime of knowledge. Brings back great memories! ;) Wish we got to spend more time together in Vegas. Take care my friend. :)

Excellent job Kit, are we going to see you in Anchorage in June?
For what it's worth, I drill and tap piece's of scrap titanium for each thickness I use for liners with the size screws being used (0-80,1-72) etc. Once you have your bolsters and/or your handles countersunk to depth, screw them to the scrap titanium and snug-up, snip off excess and grind flat. And, presto you have a perfect length screw without messing up your liners. This works well when everything is finished and you want to dress it up with gold screws.
Cheers...

That's a good one Maurice

kit, you thought you'd have the 3rd part done last weekend,
is it close??

Sam,
That is a good way of doing it.

Dan,
I finished it last night and passed it to Dexter. He helps me put all the , and . in the right place:) I'll send it to you as soon as I get it back.

Thanks for all the great information Kit! I will be modifying at least one of my procedures. I like the way you set your ball. No sense in doing things the hard way, huh?

Kit, do you make masters for every part of your folder, ie, the liners, bolsters, blade, scales, spacer?
The reason I ask is I am finding it very tedious to drill a couple holes to one size, then drill them out to the finished size and then have to run a tap thru the threaded hole to clean debris out of the tiny threads. Thanks!!!!!

Mike,
I do hardened templates of the blade, liner, and backspacer. I prefer to leave all the holes at the smallest size (holes that have to be tapped). If you have ever drilled 6 or 8 sets of liners and realized all the holes are pass thru size you will appreciate this technique.
Remember, this is how I do it. Vary it to suit how you do it. :)
