10/26/17 Final Update: It's a wrap! Please see Part 6 (Donations Made!) here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...oing-to-the-dogs-sale-donations-made.1529020/

This is Part 5 of my 5th Annual "Going to the Dogs" Sale.

Part 1 is here:

Part 2 is here:

Part 3 is here:

And Part 4 is here:

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/part-4-of-afaustin’s-5th-annual-going-to-the-dogs-sale-phils-knives.1523906/#post-17498136

I'm winding down this sale and in Part 5 I'm consolidating the knives which are still available. The sale has been a great success, I've sold a bunch of knives, and I believe I will end up with a nice chunk of change to go to the pups. Thanks again to everyone who's bought a knife or knives or otherwise supported the sale so far.

For convenience sake, let me repeat the ground rules:

Details:

Prices include shipping, USPS 1st Class, w/ Delivery Confirmation. PayPal or m.o. only. I'll cover the PayPal fees, so go ahead and list it as a sale of goods, not a gift. (If you want insurance, let me know and I will figure your cost. Otherwise, I will not be responsible for items lost or damaged in the mail.)

Please understand that I have the right to sell or not sell to whomever I choose.

1st unconditional "I'll take it", followed up with prompt payment. For PayPal info. or questions, please e-mail me at: aforsythe4 (at) austin (dot) rr (dot) com

Once we have a deal, please post "I’ll take it" in this sales thread (if you haven’t already). The new BF software requires that in order for us to exchange feedback, which I think is important.

By buying these knives you are stating that you are at least 18 years of age, and otherwise in compliance with all applicable laws regarding them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
International Sales Policies:
1) I fill out the Customs forms accurately, and so I will list this as a sale/commercial transaction, not as a gift.
2) You assume responsibility for any mishaps with Customs or shipping.
3) We will agree on the manner and additional cost of shipping before finalizing the deal. Also, PayPal charges a higher fee on international sales, so I will approximate that and add it to your total.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now without further ado, let’s get to the knives!

And thanks for helping the pups!

Andrew

P.S.: Knives #1) & #2) below, as I explained in Part 4 of my sale, are generous donations from our fellow member, Phil ("Phaint" here on BF). In a wonderful gesture, Phil donated 3 beautiful knives to this sale. :thumbsup: One is gone, but these two nice ones are available.

1) GEC #153216CL Crownlifter in Antique Yellow Jig Bone. EZ Open notch.

Phil tells me this pretty knife was carried a little and the edge was touched up. The etch is faded.

Includes tube & wax paper. WITHDRAWN

2) Case XX Barlow #62009 ½ in Red Sawcut Bone. Phil tells me this is a 1940-1964 Case knife. Carbon steel.

The sawcut is interesting on this knife. On the pile side, it is typical. On the mark side, it looks more like "half a fishtail"— there is a faint line lengthwise down the middle and the lines are only on the top half. Rich and varied shades of red in the bone.

There is plenty of patina and spots as you would expect on an older carbon knife. The blades are full and very sharp. There are 3 small nicks towards the tip end of the main (which I didn’t notice till I used a loupe). The pull is moderately strong on the main, but very strong on the pen—sometimes I can open it with my nail and sometimes I can’t. Regarding the sharpness — I got a little careless and the pen took a nice bite out of my finger!

No box. $50.00 $45.00 SOLD

3) A.G. Russell Reverse Congress Muskrat. Scales are Mother-of-Pearl with Abalone spacer.

Made in China for AGR. A real beauty.

All the details here: http://www.agrussell.com/a-g-russell-reverse-congress-muskrat/p/RUShhhCM14HP/https://agrussell.com/knife/3898

And see Post #54 here for the writer’s description of his AGR Muskrat with hard pear covers (and the next post is mine, bemoaning the fact I had—and sold--- another one of these some time ago. I’m slow to learn the lesson that MOP and abalone is just too "fancy" for me.):

Like new, unused, and unsharpened.

No box. $55.00 $49.00 $45.00 (and please keep in mind that A.G. charges $8.95 for shipping). SOLD

4) Case Muskrat in Smooth Persimmon Orange Bone. Stainless blades. There is a story on this one. I bought one of these new and sharpened it up on my WSKO. The long thin blades took great edges and were very slicey. But there was a bit of a proud spring on the mark side when the blade was open. I ultimately decided to send it in to Case as per their excellent warranty. They took care of it and sent me back this knife, which is very nice---no proud spring, great walk & talk, and no blade rub that I can see. It’s obvious that the blades are brand new because they have factory edges, but I can’t tell if they just replaced the blades or sent me a whole new knife because the scales look about the same as the ones on the original knife. Whew—long explanation, but wanted to give the full background.

The upshot is that the knife is basically new, unused, unsharpened, and without the proud spring which I gather may happen sometimes on Case Muskrats: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1374363-Lets-Talk-Muskrats!/page3?highlight=Muskrats

Includes box & paperwork. WITHDRAWN
