Did a trade with Robert Gray recently, and we agreed on USPS Priority Mail for shipping. With being in the military it takes longer to get your package but I knew that going in with having done another great trade in the past. He got his package from me in about 10 days but after a little over 2 weeks of me not getting mine he traced it down, and told me I should get my package soon. A day later it arrived, and when I opened the package "nothing but a plastic bag" that the knife had been in. He had taped the box extremely well, and completely with duct tape, and the only thing showing other than the label was a piece of priority mail plastic tape on one end. I then looked inside, and you could see where someone had cut open the box, and took the knife out, and retaped the cut in the box with the priority mail tape.
I was just sick. Fortunately Robert had insured it so I took the box right back down to the post office where I had picked it up just 20 minutes earlier along with my wife who had seen what transpired in the opening of the box. They gave me the 6th degree about the knife possibly falling out, etc., and I showed them the well taped box, and said not likely with all the duct tapred wrapped around it. Then showed them the cut in the box, and the piece of priority mail tape, and told them it looked like someone in the "system" acquired it. They qot very defensive, and I told them I was not blaming them but just "someone" in the system. With that they handed me some forms, and sent me on my way.
I contacted Robert via e-mail, an he replied right away, and told me how sorry he was, and it had happened to him once before, and gave me a choice of returning my trade or he had another knife if I was interested. The other knife he offered is worth more than the knife I traded for, and agreed to taking it only if he sent it by another carrier
which he said definently, and would get it out that very day which was last Friday. With the weekend and all, and him being where he is I was surprised to hear a knock on the door this morning(monday) from Fed Ex, and there was my package.
The knife he sent me was in perfect condition, and very expensive for him to send me but he did what was right, and I feel went over, and beyond with all that transpired to NO fault of his to make me a happy camper
I salute you Robert Gray for being a true gallant person for making this right, and "Bad-Bad" to USPS for the way they reacted in handling a transaction trying to cover their behind on what was obvious that had happened in the loss of the knife in the package.
Thanks Robert,YOU are da man!!
Don't ever be hesitant on dealing with Robert Gray/partiall serrations
