Parts request: How long do they normally take?

I filled out a parts request 3 weeks ago now, no parts, no reply after I filled the request, whole lot of nada. Is that normal? I work thirds, so calling customer service is rather difficult (basically I have to sleep when they are open), but I haven't had issues doing a parts request online from any other manufacturer.

I sent them a message and they replied with needing to fill out the parts request. That's where my 3 week wait started.

I'm still waiting on a pocket clip I tried ordering almost two months ago, over the phone. Online ordering did nothing as well.

Well that's kinda lousy. I can't carry my Swift or Lawman until I get the parts I need, so I'm sitting here with almost $200 in useless knives.

I have also NEVER received the left hand pocket clips that I requested for a Espada XL and Talwar XL I picked up second hand (called and online). :( @Cold Steel Knives

I’m also in the same boat , ordered a wave tab, or whatever it is they call it, for my Rajah II.

That was over a month ago, and still nothing. When I called I was directed to fill out the form online or send it in for repair.

I unfortunately cannot send it in to CS, because of some recent ridiculous decisions by Canada Border Services I fear it would not make it back across the border.

You are most likely SOL if you can't call. Cold Steel is notorious for lack of communication. They ignored emails for a hat that never got delivered. I called and they told me to ask all of my Neighbors in the apartment complex. I told themthat was unacceptable in that week alone I spent $150 on on their products. I was cordial and received Hat in 2 days.

I asked screws for Tuff Lite & Voyager through email and the response (without giving any name, who responded) was they’ll send out. Still waiting.

I see that CS will sell you parts like screws and clips. (Even if it takes forever)
But do I understand correctly that they won't sell you washers?

Their stated policy is not to send washers but I called in a request for nylon washers on a Khan. I somehow misplaced them. The woman I spoke with was very friendly. The next day she called back to verify which I model I needed them for and she said they'd ship that day. That was a few weeks ago and they haven't arrived.
I ended up using washers from knifekits - phos bronze (.330x.197x.005) - (For 3/16 Pivot) (PBW316D). They fit although the outside diameter is smaller than stock.

Thanks very much. I am also thinking of going to the phos Bronze if I could pin down the size I'd need.

If you consider the age of our planet, It's not really that long of a wait.
Email (parts request) is futile. You have to call a few times. You'll probably
be too senile and arthritic to operate a knife by the time you get the part.

BTW, i'm a Cold Steel fan and own many of their products.

Since Cold Steel was brought over this company is no longer honoring their warranty or sells parts or give any hoot about client support, do you like me and stay away from Cold Steel this new company is nefariously evil

Cold Steel was bought out by GSNO and what I thought would happen did happen they give not one whoot about client customer service or their warranty it will do everything in their power not to honor the warranty I have nine Cold Steel‘s and was a fan of Cold Steel now I will buy Spyderco GSMO will not sell parts delivered parts fix your knife if you want to buy a knife from a company with absolutely no warranty or customer service or parts and now when they send you part comes without pocket clips and sloppy craftsmanship GSMO IS YOUR BEST BET, This is not the old Cold Steel we aew used to, I moved on not to wastes my time and money.

Rather than running around this sub-forum posting your bad experience over and over, please post in the Good, Bad, and Ugly section of the Knife Exchange.

I have experienced the same great service from Cold Steel under the new ownership that I received under the old ownership>>>> NONE!

They did not answer emails or parts requests before and they still do not answer any requests!!

I called, first time on hold for 35 minutes hung up. Tried again, answered after 13 minutes on hold, no big deal I just do other things while I wait. The girl was very friendly and tried to help(wanted to order a replacement sheath for a currently in production knife)but she had not a clue. Put me on hold to ask around, came back in a couple of minutes, not sure don't think so. Said they would ask some other person and get back to me, nada after that. I know I got spoiled on the old Cold Steel Customer Service, but this is unacceptable for me anyway. Especially disheartening after dealing with Spyderco Customer Service, absolutely fantastic.
