Party Knife Tricks

if you don't mind having to have a special knife to do it, you could look at some of the balisong videos, there are some pretty nice videos of people flipping.

for individual tricks some place like http://www.balisongxtreme.com/ is good, for videos of forumites, http://balisong.theasylum.org/, specifically the BFC videos, http://balisong.theasylum.org/BFCBalisongForum/

I don't know if it's in any of those links, but a while back there was somebody who could do a behind the back over the shoulder type arial while riding a unicycle at the same time.

I figured you might as well get something out of your post, and this was the closest thing I could think of to what you wanted:P.

knife tricks are a bad idea. people like you are probably what gets the general public so worked up over knives anyways. you give us a bad rep.

you use knives as tools. you don't take them out and flip them and do a bunch of stupid sh1t, ESPECIALLY at a party. i say this because 99% of the time alcohol is present at the party, and alcohol + live blade = bad idea.

don't be a retard. if you are that desperate to get laid, go call a hooker. at least you won't hurt someone in the process.

The bottlefly or a BM40t is what you are looking for. the worst someone can get hurts is if they drop it in the middle of a trick. No worries of getting cut. I will rarely let someone touch my BM42, but the 40t is the perfect thing for letting them look at, and doing tricks at a party. for a visual aid (since some ppl can't figure it out) i colored the side of the blade that would be live with a red permanent marker.

Ahhhhh.....now we're getting to the finer points of usage......:D

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE ON LIVING BEINGS!! :D ;)

Bottlefly- why didn't I think of that.
I've found it a fun way to show off balisong techniques at social events.
Most people don't even connect it with a knife.

Well in the context i was implying was to see if at all anyone was on the performing end off the knife community. I mean i know that alcohol and anything dangerous is bad and i trust that no one on this forum would mix the two let alone myself. I was just curious on the performance end of it and to how much of the knife industry is into performance because from what i have seen before I got into knives the only aspect of knives throwing and such i knew of was people who threw knifes at spinning wheels and such with their assistants on them. It was a simple enough question. All i aimed to do was to further understand this culture that i was new to, i wasnt expecting hoards of people to say go play with sharp knives or attempt surgery and stuff like that. It was simply a case of to what extent to people use the knife culture in a performance sense not in how many ways can you insult me and make jokes because of asking about using knive for any other use than sport and collecting.

Thanks to everyone who answered my question in a nice manner and didnt try make jokes or anyhting.

Seems to me that if "opening bears" is not a good enough trick for you to try to work on, then you really have no appreciation for the help you received in this thread.
However, if you find a bear hard to find, try opening a lion or a wolverine or at least a pit bull. They will give you a taste of the amount of fun you can actually have at a party with a knife.

GET REAL!!!

Aegil, Bladeforums is a big place with a lot of different forums. You're likely to find a more friendly reception in the Balisong and Throwing forums.

a better idea would have been to title your thread "knife tricks" or "fun things to do with your knives", not PARTY tricks

maybe party tricks was not a good choice of phrasing and knife tricks could of been better. so any Knife Tricks people?

In the book Rver road recipes, there are directions for bear stew, which includes such gems as :
Ingredients: one meduim size bear
4-8 rabbits (to taste)
about 400 pounds of other things.
serves 80
