OUTSTANDING!! Viveca, that is the most beautiful and intricate scrimshaw I've ever seen. Tremendous work! It’s on my wallpaper now

I'm generally not into Scrimshaw.... But that has to be the hottest thing that I've seen in a long time........

Besides my wife that is (she's the one that lets me gather blades)!

That is the most incredible piece of scrim I've ever seen! Perfect details make it a cut above anything out there. The hind quarters fade into the back ground...the way the grass blade falls behind the ear. Excellent!

How large is it? How much...if you can tell?

I'd like to know where the pass around bowie is too. I truly hope that it does get finished. I'm having doubts. I'd hate for it to sit unfinished in some makers drawer after it got this far.

Glad you like it ! The size of the scrimshaw is appr. 3 1/2" * 2 1/2" and the buffalo horn tip that it is made on is 6 " high . This piece was a commisioned work for a collector from Switzerland .
When she makes scrimshaw on mammuth ivory it looks like this .

I´m sorry that this photo is not as sharp and focused as the first one but I´m sure that you get an idea of her detailed work .
You can see more of her work on http://www.scrimart.u.se .
