Well, the 5 was already passed around a while back.

I voted lite machete....ONLY because the Junglas isnt listed....

Any ESEE knife pass around would be appreciated! I would vote Junglas also, but lite machete would be fantastic. The HEST passaround is almost coming to an end.

I voted for the 6, 5 would be sweet as well.
why no junglas?

b/c the HEST pass around has been a Cluster F..well a big mess and is still not over.....some one will pay for the ESEE if this happens again or be Banned.
I have rules worked out and once knife is decided please read rules before joining the pass around and limited space 10-12 tops.

The bigger knives are all interesting. Actually all ESEE knives are interesting. But I'm most interested in the little one right now. I'd like to get my hands on an Izula before spending money on it, so that's my vote. It's really hard to pick one. Thanks for organizing this, no matter which knife is selected.

Though I'd love to play with one, I will not ask to participate in the pass around - that being said I have a question:

This type of knife is a hard use knife, it's designed to be used. How is it possible to return it in the same or better condition than received?

I left my flame retardant suit at the shop so go easy on me, not meant to stir anything up, just an honest question.

thanks

I vote for a 4, but that is simply because it is the next in line of purchases for the Coffee Clan, and I wanna check it out :) The 5 would be fun too. Mostly I would like a chance at the passaround so I can do a proper write up, I was bummed about the HEST review. :(

no suit needed, that is generic rules, I'll modify before hand,I want the knife used but not destroyed b/c after the pass around those who was in it ,will be in a drawing to win it....:D

Exactly. I was brought up that when you borrow things you return them in better condition than when you got it. Many people don't which has resulted in me not lending them stuff any more. Buddy of mine asked if I had a full set of spade bits. I said yes. I had used the 2 times. He brings them back after 3 months, tip snapped off one, a couple of them looked like they had been left outside and the nice nylon roll they came in covered in sheetrock mud. Frosts my biscuits.

I'm sure that won't be a problem with this crew. Passarounds will get used but taking 5 minutes to clean the blade, wipe it with oil and wash the scales off shouldn't be too tough to do. :D

I just bump HEST passaround for the new folks and for the people who still on the HEST list to receive.
This Pass around will not be handled like this or this will be the Last.
Everyone who participates in this pass around , a list will be provided in the box w/everyones info so there is no waiting on someones info...name,BF name, address, phone number, email address as well will be on list
The knife will be shipped to me,I'll place list in box with enough ESEE business cards 1 for each person & enough ship labels for every one,we'll reuse the box so do not destroy it opening it. keeps things simple & provides packing material. cut down on excuses

I voted for the HEST solely because I missed the last one and am considering adding a 3rd ESEE to my family and want to see it before I pull the trigger.

That said, I'm very pleased to see how many people are interested in the 5. I love this knife. It's my first ESEE and I think many people will come over to the dark side once they wield this thing around a bit. I just don't look forward to hearing a ton of "my gosh this thing is hefty" comments... yep. It's heavier than the others. Yep, it's got a saber grind. Yep it's 1/4" thick.

Here's my $.02 on the pass-around:

Please, guys & gals, in the pass-around:
Show pics of you USING it, not just table-top evaluations...
Critique the knife.. how does it feel in-hand (comfortable, uncomfortable, balanced, etc.), how does it perform, what did you do with it, etc.

The HEST pass-around was so-so... some people gave good feedback - enough to help others make a decision on if this knife fits into their lives - some just said that they like the knife - we can look at the pics on the ESEE site and decide if we *like* it or not.

I just ask that those involved in the pass-around be critical and detailed as much as possible for the sake of those who are not participating.

If we have a 5 passaround and I am lucky enough to get in on it, I will take a day off work and hit the woods with it for a review.

After reading the HEST review, I'm all for a time frame on the pass around. Giving someone a month to forget about it will end in fail.

Heck yeah...I have been involved in many passarounds and that is WAAAAAY to long to keep the knife. 2 weeks is max IMHO.

I voted for the 5!! Bring it to me, baby! :D

Thanks for stating this so well. I've been assuming this was the point, but since I'm new here I didn't realize how other pass-arounds had gone. If I get in on an ESEE pass-around I'll be sure to get some pictures of real use, at least in my back yard. I like someone else's comment about taking a day off to take some pictures in the woods. I need an excuse for a day hike...

Once knife is decided I will post clear instruction and direction & a time frame for the knife . Please READ Rules before posting to take part in passaround.

I like the 5 because I really want one. Waiting for my Izula to arrive first.

However, my backyard is way overgrown and could use a good machete-ing.

I think the 5 would be easier to ship :D
