The passaround Bushcrafter is now in process! I ground it out this morning, and will be heat treating it tomorrow. Next week I will be finish grinding and making the handles. I`m thinking tulipwood with red liners for this one. I`m almost done with my last knife order, a special model that bearthedog requested for himself before he left for Australia. I`ll be posting pics of bear`s soon, and the passaround knife next week. As it stands right now, we are on track to start the passaround on schedule!

Cool, ...how about some progress pics?

The Tulipwood with red liners sound like a nice combo.

I too can't wait until I get to try it out. From the pics, it looks just right. Good size, contoured handle, tulipwood...what's not to like?

I don`t think anyone would find my way of making knives too exciting. No water jet cutting or anything, heck I don`t even have a bandsaw. I just grind away anything that does not look like a knife. ;) I do everthing in house,no outside operations, that`s how I like it.

Belt sander? Angle grinder? Benchtop grinding wheels? Dremel cut-off wheels? Bastard files?

You'd be surprised at how people would be interested in taking a look over your shoulder. Little things that you may take for granted can be very informative for someone looking to glean a bit of information and possibly make a knife one day. I'd be interested in a closer look at your process. Not to swipe any "trade secrets" but to understand one way that it can be done. Just something to consider. Thanks.

Belt sander, bench grinder, drill press, scroll saw for handles, files, and a charcoal forge.

Ah-ha. I've got no forge, but the rest I do have.

Now I just need those pesky years of practice and experience and I'll be knee-deep in steel!

There is a term for that John, it is called "sole authorship", Blade magazine did an article on it 2-3 months ago. I am the same way, except I also hand forge some of my knives, and I do have a wood cutting band-saw.

Forging, all grinding, and heat treating all done in house....

I`m hoping this one will be a popular model. I plan on dropping several models from my line due to little or no interest, like the Scout, EWOK, Budget Hunters, Tin Knife and Tactical Field Knife. Possibly some others.
