That is a bit of a drive, Mymindisamob, for chopping wood. I will have to let you know if I am ever over there. My aunt lives in Squim.

This is WAY super cool of you PM. I have a dead tree/bush out back that will get chopped up and battoned with this one. May pit it against a few others that I have as well for comparison. RatWeilers (both generations), BATACLE and others maybe. :)

Can't wait for my turn!!

There is a lot of demand for the CG SFNO and I was fortunate enough to get two at KC. One safe queen (dc/mag) and one user (sage/canvas mags.) I've got to use the "user" a bit more so I won't start this for two more weeks so I have the chance to ugly it up some more on my own.

I'm doing this one a little different from some others. I pre-filled many spots via PM with Hogs & Piglets who have been diligently posting their adoration for this model on the SFNO death cats (oops, sorry Jaxx) Death Chats. ;) There are still a couple of slots left. Beyond that, let's keep it CONUS, you insure it for a TBD value before you send it, ship it with delivery confirmation and maybe write a review or pics. Plan to keep it for a week or so. If I limit it to ten participants, I'll get the blade(s) back in three months or so. :o

What can you do with it (them)? Treat it like a hard use knife - more or less. Chop, baton, butcher, slice : wood, paper, cardboard, flesh, etc. Let's leave the chopping of concrete, metal and rocks out for this one. No, don't be paranoid about hitting a rock if your batoning or something. Just don't take it to the quarry.

It's okay to sharpen the blade but let's limit major reprofiling to Ban or Justabuyer, if one of them elects to participate. If one of you are a sheathmaker (Chuddy Bear, DavidE, etc.) and want to use it as a model to make a few sheaths, it is okay – as long I get a discount on one of the product. ;)

If the majority of you would like another user or two sent in the same package for comparison, I can do that. I was thinking a stripped SJTAC, a SRKW M6 or maybe a Nexus Ciao. Let me know the preference so I can get a consensus.

I think that crack should earn me a spot on the list!!! :grumpy: :p :D:D Got room for one more??? :) I'd love a shot at trying one out.

Thanks for this PM. Looking forward to using both blades. I am hoping the second is the SJTAC> I want to lay out a sheath
Thanks

I currently own the other two Busses, so my vote is for you to just send out the SFNO. But that's just me. :)

:D:D:D...I finally made a list! I've always want to be on a list other than the one my Dad had....errrr perhaps this isn't the place to bring that up!:o

Thanks so much PM! This is way cool of you.

After I ignore the percentage skew from the non-passaround pollsters, it looks like the concensus from the participants is still for the SJTAC to accompany the SFNO. If one of you doesn't want to participate based on the extra insurance, email me at staceycutshaw at gmail.com. I'm thinking $800 in insurance. That amount probably wouldn't get me another user SFNO and SJTAC but I don't want to ruin the experience for the passarounders due to secondary market values.

Otherwise, there is one other alteration: the passaround SFNO is no longer a Sage/mag canvas. It is now a stripped and used, bare (satin would be a stretch) and mag canvas! I got a bit of batoning in tonight, along with a fire... and some Jack and coke. It is a pretty good finish once the coating came off. The SJTAC (Mole Jack) was originally riddled with CNC ditty marks after I stripped the coating. This one was pretty clean underneath. It got to the same point, after 30 minutes of sanding, that it took the SJTAC after 10-12 hours.

I think you'll like it!

I've got a week a home with the family next week and will probably get the passaround started then. I'll work out the schedule and let the participants know.

Thanks for tuning in!

PS - If anyone wants to know, the black coating comes off much easier than the sage coating.

Thanks for the update PM. Sounds like you broke them in first. Perfect. :D

The SJTAC has been broken in for some time. ;) It was a blade I didn't really care for at first but, after significant usage in the last several months, it has become one of my favorites. I hope the passarounders give it a chance and use it a bit too. :)

Added pics... I'll work out the order geographically and get 'em out this Friday or Saturday.

Thanks!

You might just do $1000.00 in insurace not much difference,I would be surprised if anyone objected .You are the Man .Happy Thanksgiving !

If no one objects, it would make me feel better and be closer to actual replacement costs. I guess an extra $200 in insurance only works out to an extra $1 or $2 for the shipper.

I'll get a final email with order, ship instructions, ins $, etc together in a day or so.

Thanks everyone.

Updated with list order and shipping tomorrow AM - finally all packed up. I was still waiting for some addys.

Thanks for being patient!
