Passaround

So only one sheath will be shipping out for the pass around. the roughouts edge was a lil miss aligned so the stitches were crooked. But here is the sheath for the knife I’ll take some better pictures in the daylight after work but its been treated with a good coat of Aussie leather conditioner and mink oil. The only question I have before the pass around is sharpening. I’ve been really busy with leatherwork and completing orders recently so I haven’t had anytime to sharpen the knife. It has a ok edge on it now but will probably need to be sharpened by whoever gets it first. Are y’all ok with that? If not I can try and find some extra time but it would delay it a lil longer. 56CF0E81-530C-4805-9124-8DAEED2366E0.jpeg

I’m not for sure yet but I’m gonna start a new thread today for people to enter.
Be sure to post rules.
Time limit to keep it.
Insurance to cover the cost.
Review with pictures must be posted.
Whatever else you can think of.

Ok will do! I’ll look at some of the older threads to get a good idea of other rules and things like that.

JK Knives JK Knives ty_higg ty_higg , I was wondering if there would be any offense if I let a Hurley Creek Lite tag along for the pass around. I think the knife is splendid and should give a decent idea of John's work in a smaller knife. I think the pair would really compliment each other in the field.

Only trick is that it's S30V which is going to be harder to convince John to get in the future. Put, the general performance should be close since it' really in the design that makes it great, IMO.

My restriction, if acceptable, would be no hard use like batoning or cutting wires, especially since it's a harder, more fragile steel and really not within the realm of use for this design anyway, IMO. Thin and slicey, like I like 'em.

I have absolutely no problem with it. I also have no problem ordering more S30V, if there is a demand for it. I agree that there should be no chopping or prying with it, that’s not what it is designed for.

I did a Mud Turtle passaround some years back. Its probably lost 100 pages back though.

FOUND IT

Awesome I’ll give it a look today I got a lil to busy with orders last night but today I’m gonna post the thread.

That's a great thread! I love that natty canvas micara look on that knife. The comparison with the modern bowie has me rethinking that model as well, but all the praise for the MT handle is putting it on the must have list. Rule #9 will have to wait.

I love my #9 but the handle on this mud turtle is amazing. I absolutely love it! Also I have no problem with it going in on the passaround at all and I agree with you and John that’s not what it’s designed for so shouldn’t be used that way.

I'll include it then when the post for that goes live. I'm in for mud turtle passaround as well so if I can either send the HCL to the 1st person on the list, send to Ty so he can use it too, or if I'm 1st on the list I can just add it in for the next guy.
