I think the hardest part of the knife judging part of the test is how nervous those being tested get.

Hey congrats Eric,
It has been great to see you progress.
I want everyone to take note of how well this knife preformed. Look at how far the blade came back from being bent 90 degrees. This is testimony to the fact that Eric wasn't interested in just getting by, but making a very well preforming blade.
Good job buddy
P.S. stop all that puking, its unbecoming. lol http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/images/smilies/barf.gif

THanks Shane you know as well as i do that i wouldn't be where i am today without your help..................Now get back to the shop and get to work on that folding dagger:thumbup:

Great job Erik. Shane is right. Your blade bent in a beautiful arc. You could tell that blade was perfectly heat treated. Thanks for putting yourself out there and testing in front of all those people. Great job.

Erik - Congratulations on a job well done! Talk about pressure - in front of all those people. But you nailed it and one of the best moments was when Wade Coulter held your bent blade aloft for the crowd to see, and very clearly explained what a perfect blade you'd made. That was some high praise indeed, and well deserved.

My son, Robert, was certainly impressed and he appreciated your generosity in letting him have a go with your buffalo rifle. Can't tell you how proud it made me when, on his first shot, he hit the metal target some 200 yards out. I looked around at the crowd and folks were looking at eachother like, "I don't believe he did that." The grin on his face was priceless! Thanks for making that happen for him, and for me.

It's no surprise that when you guys all had your knives out on the tables Saturday afternoon (I'd told him he could pick out a knife to take home for himself) he carefully examined everything... and picked your knife - "The black one," as he called it. There were a few things from the weekend he'll remember for a long time, and one of them is you. Thanks!

Congratulations Erik!! Glad to see you had a nice thick glove on your left hand while cutting the 2x4. I once cut my left hand doing this when the blade took a big chunk of wood out and then skittered up the board. Should we look for you in Atlanta next year?

I hope so i am already working on the mockups of the 5 knives i hope to submit.

Congratulations on passing! I passed the performance test this year also. I even bent my knife back, trued it up and use it often at the ranch....god I'm a cheap SOB! Really though, I thought it was a good knife and didn't want a good piece of steel to go to waste.
Again, congratulations and look forward to seeing your work.

I don't know you personally, Erik, I but enjoyed the exposure you received
doing your test and when it was successfully done.

This is what make the day in the knifemakers - knife collectors life!

Hope you will find a moment to stop by at Tim Hancock's table at the
coming Blade Show where he will be introducing his book...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
