I received this sad news today:

It is with great sadness I announce that my father, Chuck Bybee, the founder of AKS - Alpha Knife Supply, passed away unexpectedly at home January 2nd.

Alpha Knife Supply is a family owned and operated business. Everyone in our family is an avid knife collector. We started the business in the late 90’s as a way to support my dad’s and my knife collecting habit. Now we have been in business for more than 25 years. We love being able to work together and enjoy working with knifemakers and other artisans.

We are still in shock, but are leaning on each other and our strong faith during this difficult time. With the help of my husband Jon and my mom Brenda, we will continue to run and manage the business. We appreciate your patience and support as we start a new chapter in the life of our business.

If you feel inclined, in lieu of flowers or other gifts, our family requests donations be made to the Chuck Bybee Memorial Education Fund on GoFundMe.

Best Regards

Jessica Walker

Hate this, prayers for the family.

Chuck was a great guy and supporter of the knife industry. he will be missed.

Condolences to his family. Losing someone close to you is always hard.

Very sad. They are less than 75 miles from me. I’ve known the family for several decades.

Chuck was a big man with a big heart. He will be greatly missed.

Always innovating and improving. A champion of the knife industry.

Much love and respect.

Sad news. I saw it on my IG feed this morning. My thoughts and prayers are with the Bybee and AKS family.

Sorry to hear this, I will keep his family in my prayers.

RIP Chuck. You will be missed. Condolences to the family.

I got that email also - and it's really sad. A big loss to the whole knifemaking world, and even bigger loss to his family.

Rest in Power, Chuck🙌

Alpha Knife Supply has been a big supporter of Knife Steel Nerds since before it started. Chuck always wanted to learn more about knife steel, so AKS provided free steel to me and others for testing. Chuck also started and funded my first knife steel development project (NioMax).
