Passing them along giveaway

H&S + 1 entry for you

Beyond having seen the knife before, I recognised the tang stamp as I was just looking through the latest issue of smkw which includes some other old forge knives.
I'm not 100% sure but they may be made in Pakistan.
Either way I like the looks of the copper bolster and burl wood handle

I would be excited to find out what the case was; not so excited because I'd know my work would expect me to get my job done at night.

The lockback is an Old Forge, specifically "OF028" Copper fitted medium lockback. It's obviously a rough rider sub-brand (hence the SMKW connection) and it's the only one out of three Old Forge knives that actually seemed worth crap.

The wood burl on mine is nice and the copper has patina'ed nicely.

I'm in for either one. I myself would not be excited since I am the head of my house hold and I'd lose pay. ... It would be a neat experience. I don't think my bills would pay them selves. Really generous gaw

See this particular one looked rough rider-ish to me, but the old forge knives in this month's issue are listed as hand made and use Damascus so I'm positive that these particular ones are sourced from Pakistan.
This one however seems pretty decent and worth trying out.

I'm in, I like this theme. Thanks for a generous GAW, neffarious!

I think I might actually be a little more excited than "usual" for jury duty because the last (and first) time I received a summons, I had a pressing work issue (international travel, already booked) that ended up requiring some paperwork to be filed (and my HR department getting involved) so I wouldn't be found in some sort of contempt of court for not going when I'd be flying to Central America in coach, hating how short and narrow "normal" folks are. :o I feel like I'm due a "make-up" from me, though I do feel some anxiety about a possible long jury trial, since at some point the pittance "compensation" the government offers can't make up for the missed vacation/personal days or (worse) any unpaid days in excess of those. So there's a risk, and I don't know if I want to test my luck that badly. :D

Good luck to all, and nice identification, Hickory n steel!

Not in. But I'm not sure what I would feel about a jury summons.

I'm a criminal defense attorney. I'll likely never sit on a jury.

I've had friends sit on my juries. Older brother had to waste half a day before they let him go. Like they were ever going to let him sit on my jury.

Once, I picked a jury. In the pool was another attorneys father (the other attorney was in my office). The dad was a lawyer for the county in civil matters, had represented the officers involved in the case, and sat there in he back doing a cross word puzzle. Half the day. Not responding to all the questions that would have immediately gotten him kicked off.

Eventually he jumped up all embarrassed and said "sorry, I was not paying attention. He proceeded to list all the reasons to kick him off.

If you get chosen, and you feel one way about a verdict, don't be a wuss, and let your self be convicted otherwise, just to be unanimous.

(Assuming it is a criminal trial).

There is nothing I hate worse than hearing there was disagreement about guilt, but they wanted to go home.

Thanks for the advice and i agree 100%. I am not a fan of the current system as it is easy to manipulate certain aspects of it if you have money. That being said i don't have a better one in mind

I'm in thanks for the giveaway. Now on too jury duty I hate doing it I lose so much money it's not funny. Last time I had it I sat all Day to be selected to go in to court room for more selection. the judge got to ask questions this time I was honest and told him I could care less about the thug sitting across the room from me and I felt working to provide for my family was more important to me on that note I was nicely asked to leave :)

I'm in! I've been summoned a few times, once for federal court for that you are "on call" for an entire month checking in every week to see if you have to show up. While it might not be the thing I want to be doing at the time I happily serve. One of the things that makes our legal system one of the best in the world is we are given the opportunity to be judged by a jury of our peers. Without a peer based jury system our courts could fall into a tyrannical state that runs on opinion and wealth, as we've seen in other countries. So I don't know if excited is the right word but I would rather serve on a jury, than to not be given the option of having one.

Please count me in**
I would like to be able to be there to make sure the accused gets a fair trail and judgment. I would hate to be one to judge someone and see them be incarcerated falsely for a crime that the accused did not commit,,,,
All the best ~Zemapeli

I just got summed me being just 19 it was shocking got it on August second. But if I get paid which I doubt I be a heck of a lot excited for it

Not an entry for obvious reasons, but I'm glad to see you passing on the generosity! Interesting idea for a giveaway.

I've been selected once but didn't end up having to actually go through with it. It seemed like a good opportunity for service and it would've been interesting to hear the details of the case, but I was working a non-salary job and wouldn't have been paid for the time missed and couldn't afford that at the time. If I get another chance I'll probably go through with it, do my best to ensure the justice system works as it should in at least one case.

AFAIK my job pays me for Jury Duty as if i was attending work. That is something i should look into.

I am in. I would like to serve on a jury, as it would be a new experience and what I consider to be one of my obligations as a citizen. Never yet been called to jury duty or served, though.

Id love to take part in jury duty it would be a great opportunity to see how the whole thing worked. Thanks for the cool GAW. Im in!!

Not an entry from me, although it is a great giveaway idea.

Under Scottish Law (I assume it is similar in the rest of the world) I will never be called for jury duty. I have spent hundreds of hours in a court room giving evidence and what-not though :D

I was going to say not an entry, but what the heck, I like that soddy.

I'm in.

I would be happy to go to jury duty. I have never been in a position to actually serve on a jury. I was summoned three times in about a year and a half during a period where I really could not take time off. I was excused every time. Then I was finally able to get other people trained up on the equipment so that if I was summoned I could actually go do jury duty.

Now it has been 7 years, and I have transitioned into a new career and everything, and I have not been summoned again. Now that I finally can serve on a jury, no one has asked. :(

I'm in for the Queen.

Served on a jury once. It was a civil case involving a traffic accident. First day was the jury selection, the case took up the next day and a half. So three days total.

It has been probably 12 years ago or more. They haven't called me up since, not sure why not.

It was a very interesting and educative experience. I would encourage everyone who has a chance to serve on a jury to actually do so. You need to learn what goes on during jury deliberations between a group of well-meaning but not-happy-to-be-there people who can decide your fate or financial future. If for no other reason than to make sure you don't find yourself in that situation.

I'd like to enter for the queen.

I'm not a fan of the jury duty process. I don't like how the defense and proescution can try to weigh the odds in their favor through hand picking people who agree with their point of view. I wouldn't be vercy excited, because the whole process is very dull to me.
