patina on a rd7

i'm going to put a patina on my rd7 and was wondering if i should only coat the blade or dunk the whole thing with tthe scales removed??

took the scales off, soaked it in vingegar for about an hour, and it turned out great.
 
That's one of the benefits of removable scales. I think the next generation of RD series knives will not have removable scales, just my opinion folks. I follow the Ranger forum fairly regularly and scales seem to be the number 1 issue. Justin has a prototype RD9 pass around going right now...with non removable scales.
