i have an rd7 with the black coating. i'm thinking of removing it and using vinegar to form a patina on the blade. i just like the look dull grey and well-used. what about corrosion resistance under the handle scales. if i remove the coating, will there be more a chance for corrosion to form under the scales?? i'm going to permanently mount the scales as well, so i won't be able to periodically remove them to oil underneath.
what should i do?? leave it as is....or strip the coating and patina with vinegar, then permanently attach the scales... or maybe another approach??
thanks
