Steak gives a great patina!

I was finally able to capture the bleach job on the micarta. The top threads and a few lower were bleached, but the rest is unaffected.

Sorry for the crappy pics. Stuck the blade of my sodbuster Junior into a little packet of malted vinegar and left it standing upright overnight between glasses in the cupboard. Then wiped it up with the Scotch-Brite pad.

This rosewood lambsfoot displays some patina:

This thing has lots of patina, mostly natural but you can see a little bit of fresh patina at the edge.
I stuck it in a potato for a bit to cover a sharpening mistake.


It doesn't necessarily take 100 years to get a patina like this, but the patina on this blade was definitely at least 100 years in the making.

I need to touch up the edge on the barlow... I’m feeling the urge to get the flitz and clean it up before sharpening. It’s Saturday and I’m ready for some college football. After photo... shined up like a door knob to a brothel ( my after photo is above the before duh)

I don't think I've posted this knife here yet. A. Wright & Son horn-handled lambsfoot jackknife that Jack Black commissioned for the Guardians of the Lambsfoot in 2017, gifted to me by @mrknife , pocket slip by @Pàdruig ! Quite a bit of patina, but I'm happy the blade etch is still visible! (I've named it my Lam Jack.)
