  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Patinas Paracord and Flashlight

I have done a little bit of battoning with the 9 but mostly use my 2 for that. I only got my 9 towards the end of the summer and mostly used it for chopping and not as much battoning. I was really impressed with how well the coating was holding up on it considering how much chopping I was doing. It seemed like the coating on my 2 got beat up quicker. I think battoning is the real coating killer.

If I missed it, I'm sorry, but what light is that? At first glance I thought it was the Preon 2, but it seems to have more grip on it than the Preon.

Its a streamlight stylus pro, I have some rubber O rings on there for a little more grip. No Idea what size, I worked at a hardware store for a while and picked them up for a few bucks for a small bag of them. They add nice grip but are not quite as grippy as normal rubber bands. I think I paid around 20 for it off amazon maybe like a year ago.

mmm kay :)

that's an inefficient tying method...

I remember you posting this in the chat thread a while ago and when I saw it I though to myself that it would make a good flashlight wrap. Then a few weeks later when I actually went to wrap the flashlight I couldn't remember where I saw the video.

You are absolutely right this does look like a quicker method of tying the exact same thing. I also like the knot at the top that was there when he started. Do you know what it is called. I suppose it doesn't matter if the first way takes a little longer on something small like a flashlight but you could save some time if you are doing something larger like a walking stick or blowgun maybe. I think this would look really nice on both of them. Thanks for the video Bladite, its always good to find a more efficient way of doing something.

the starting knot is a standard constrictor knot, iirc...

if you have an iphone, there's a great knot app, which is based on the http://www.animatedknots.com/ of the Groggggggg fame. it's a good resource...

I see, sorry Bladite, I never meant to offend you or be a jerk! I misunderstood.

no worries. by making you ask the question, it was clear that i did not provide enough information to start with...
