Patriots day - never forget

Sept. 11th pissed me off. One thing in the aftermath I didn't like was the "support our troops" stickers. I wanted to make one that said, "Support our troops, become one" or "support the guy in China who makes these stickers"

Lackland AFB
Flight 466
Sept. '05

Nothing speaks louder than actions...

I was serving in the Guard at the time, I had been active duty prior. I was sitting in my office when my Seargent First Class came in and said you have got to see the news. I walked into the breakroom and watched it unfold. We have a word of prayer for our country and then was alerted that the post was locked down. Thank you to all who have served. We would not be America except for them, but let's not forget who we are now. Thanks to all the police, fireman and rescurers that gave their lives also. Let us always be vigilant and watchful and thankful to God and our country.

I can't even begin to describe what I feel. That day will be forever etched in my head. Make every day count, let the people that are important to you know that you love and cherish them, live for today because tomorrow is not a guarantee.

I remember that day vividly, although i can't remember the slightest thing from the day before it.

I was delivering chinese food for the place i worked during college. I had just turned on the radio, and wasn't really paying attention to it, until someone said something about a plane crash. That caught my attention, and i started listening to the broadcast. No joke, for the first 5 or so minutes, i really thought it was talking about some new book or TV show. I guess my brain wasn't in the right gear to take it seriously, and it just seemed like fiction. At some point, the broke in with an "up to the minute report" at which time, i can clearly remember stopping my car, turning up the radio and listening in total shock. It was just unbelievable.

I sat there for 20 minutes listening before i remembered the delivery, but when i went to drop it off, the lady at the door was crying as she signed the CC receipt.

The hit us. Until that day, it had NEVER occurred to me that it could happen, but now we know better. It was knowledge we won hard, but I for one will not forget.

in honor of those who have fallen and lost loved ones, I ordered a Busse Combat Team Gemini Light Brigade knife- A knife that is TRULY made in the U.S.A. by a U.S. company run by U.S. citizens. God bless this country that I am so proud to have been born in. And God bless Busse Combat and all the other TRUE born and bred in the U.S.A. companies that make guns and knives and gear with materials that are MADE IN THE U.S.A. Now bring on the zombies!!......wait, I have to wait to receive my TGLB

Do zombies were turbans? i think that would be cool

I don't want to get too technical, but 'Islamists' don't wear turbans. Turbans are worn by Sikhs and some Hindus. If we're going to use lazy xenophobia we should probably try to be vaguely accurate.

What's the fun of xenophobia, if you can't aim it randomly at anything that strikes your fancy.

:) good catch though

Xenophobia isn't terribly helpful, and while occasionally amusing, is counterproductive to winning 'hearts and minds'. I don't want to be too boring and serious -- no one enjoys making inappropriate comments more than I do!-- but possibly today of all days might be the one time to be serious...

I suppose you're right. I definitely take it as seriously as anyone. I tend to deal with unpleasant things by making jokes. Tis my way.

Why are you all making this a military issue? Families and regular business people died, not the military.

Now there's a first post to remember.

9/11 was one of the worst days in our history, but it united this country in a way not seen in a lifetime

You are exactly right! One of the worst things to happen in the countries history. It affected the entire country.

Why then, the focus on the military? This is a legit question. Everyone was affected. While the military deserve all the respect in the world, this is a tragedy much bigger than that. It is a tragedy felt the world over, so I dont see a need to single out the military on this ocassion where we remember the deaths and pain of people and their families.

When I said all who serve this great country I mean our military, our police, our firefighters our first responders and anyone else who does a service to our country.

Regardless, 9/11 will never be forgotten by this guy

It's a good thing to point out that the attack was on the civilian population. It is also a good thing to point out that it was the U.S. military that had to step up and deal with the aftermath. Compare the civilian casuality numbers of 9/11 to the military casualty numbers in Iraq and Afghanistan post 9/11, and you'll understand why it is "A Military Issue".

So, it is a commonly held belief that the wars in Iraq and afghan were considered the 'aftermath' of 9/11?!

Now you have me really intrigued!

If more Americans paid as much attention to the details as you have, we would be so much better off. ;)

And for the record, a LOT of people went out and enlisted as a direct result of 9/11. Not sure bumper stickers telling them to would've made a difference. Our freedom in the US has always been fought for by the 3 percenters, but enjoyed by all.
