This is from a 135 layer billet of 15N20 and 1084 high carbon steels that I forged last week using some new dies for the first time in my press. I am very happy with the results even though the finished blade came out thinner than I expected, so, I made it into this nice filet and a paring knife from the same billet is in progress on my workbench.
Forged in my shop
Heat treated in my Evenheat furnace to Rc 58-60 using three normalizing and two tempering cycles to produce a fine grain throughout the blade.
Flat to slightly convex grind
Stabilized walnut handle with brass and red carbon fiber spacers. There is a subtle curl in the wood that doesn't show well in these photos
Overall length: 12 1/4 inches
Blade: 7 1/4 inches
Oiled leather scabbard with a belt loop for a right hand carry
SOLD delivered within the US. I well ship to other countries with actual shipping costs applied. My PayPal and email address is gldrewknives@gmail.com
