I am just getting started making damascus and wanted to see how much stress my forge welds could take. I forged this knife from a cut off from a billet of 115 layers of 3/16 inch 15N20 and 1095. I drew a 2 inch piece of the billet out to this 4 inch blade about 1/8 inch thick. My welds held and I came up with this interesting pattern.

115 layer damascus made of 15N20 and 1095
Flat grind
Stabilized maple handle
Overall length: 8 1/2 inches
Blade: 4 1/4 inches
Leather scabbard

So cool, you actually pattern welded the two steels together to get the billet? That is some work, any use of a power hammer or all by arm and anvil?

A power hammer for part of the process but it needs some finess with the hand hammer too
