Pattern Welded Blades

I just looked at my order, it was for three full bars. The bars are a bit over 4 feet long, and will make 5-7 knives each bar. I carefully layout the tips and tangs in such way as to get the max yield from each bar. I figure a large knife has $150 in damasteel, and a smaller one $75.

Well, it certainly is true, that if you want to charge the big prices most often you have to have materials that are on the very expensive side even if your work is "accepted" at a higher price level. Sure there are exceptions. There always are.Understand though that the quality of the work still has to be of a certain quality to begin with.I like "plain" to but it seems the on line buyers do not, somehow falsely figuring the "plain" ones are over priced. So yes the extra work and costs placed into "decorated" knives usually return more for all done.
