Hey Bladeforums, this is my first sale on the board, but I've been active on many others for quite a few years..

This is a little seax that started as an experiment..
The blade is a composite of a wrought and 1080 twist, middle layer of wrought iron, and an edge bar of 5160 which matched surprisingly well with the 1080 post etch.
Handle is black walnut I stained and finished some various ways to make it old and dark looking, with a bolster of textured and heavily etched wrought.. and a white spacer in between the two.

Over all length is 8-9", spine thickness is around 3/32", and handle length is between 3.5" and 4"

Sheath is leather stained my favorite mix of mahogany and black, then sealed and stamped with my logo.

If you have any questions feel free to ask

OHHH, and the fit is good, that little black hole looking thing in the picture of the bolster blade junction is just a part of the texturing :P

set asking price

SOLD

Thanks for looking, if your nervous of buying from a new seller I understand and can refer you too some of my customers, and another board where I've been selling for a long time.

I love the patter, shape, and overall style of this blade!

If I wasn't strapped for cash, it would be mine. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

I like it. Pattern welded blades have always been a weakness for me.

As we speak, I am having a langsax forged. That one will be about 24 inches long, with wooden handle and sheath.

Do you do your own heat treat? Do you quench in water or oil?

I do do my own, and it depends on the piece, this one was a fast oil quench, I don't know how much you know about knifemaking and I don't mean to sound at all condescending.. but basically there are different grades of oil that quench at different speeds, the oil I used on this one was about as quick as oil gets.. Because the edge is 5160, which is an oilhardening steel I had to..

I've been messing around with water quench lately however, and am getting some fair results.

Is Kevin the feller doing your commission? He's a cool guy, its been neat watching his work progress.

Painful press building pricedrop.. (The monies going towards parts)

200 shipped takes it for the next two day's only, then it goes on the shelf for the local ren-faire.. I'm open to reasonable offers as well.

I just don't have the $ now but if it doesn't sell on here I'll be shooting you an email about it in the near future!

Idk what it is about it but I just love this knife...

That's a bummer, If you wanted it for certain, I let customers do a payment plan type thing.. half now half later or whatever, Then I don't have to worry about it selling or not, and the buyer gets to know he's going to end up with the blade once they gather the rest.
