This here is a special sheath for a special knife, pics of which, will probably not be ready for a few weeks.

Paul said that this one really stretched his comforte zone, which, IMO, is a good thing. The leather is treated differently on the overlays, which is why we have a color variation, and the inlay material is chocolate brown lizard.

It really is a pleasure working with him.

Steven awesome sheath I am waiting for a rather special sheath from Paul and will post pics when it comes . Again great sheath can't wait to see the knife.

Very neatly executed, but IMO it's a bit hodgepodge compared to other sheaths of his posted lately. As if bits and pieces of different colors and textures were forced together. In particular, the color transition from the top to the bottom detracts from the flow, and the way the scalloped tooling on the spine side is pinched (and visually lost) between the wide and narrow stitching. It makes the whole less elegant than it would be were it more simple.

Thanks for your response, Mike!

The sheath is for a damascus El Diablo with amber stag handle....IMO, there is no way that a "simple" sheath would do that knife justice.

Paul is the sheath master. That inlay is awesome. Post more pics with the knife when you can. When getting a sheath/pouch made, does he give you some examples to choose from? I am thinking about a sheath, but not sure where to start. I have his contact info. Thanks!

Sweeeeeet. I love the fact that he kept away from the trotten path with this sheath. Very cool.

His work is impressive. That is a beautiful sheath. I hope you post it and the knife soon.

To start, simply look at every sheath that you can find.....figure out what you do and don't want, and write it down...it helps Paul very much if you have a good idea of some key points that you are looking for, but if you don't really know, he can help you....you will just be on the phone/e-mailing longer.:)

This one required two telephone calls....and I am really happy with the way it turned out(from the pic, which we all know, says nothing;))

Thats actually one of my favorites so far. I like the contrasting colors and I especially like the way the darker parts are textured. If it were me, I might want the whole thing in leather rather then a lizard inlay but it doesn't matter because this looks beautiful and could certainly change my previous taste. Infact, I'm starting to wish I had been collecting big blades all along instead of folders just so that I can work with paul. :)

Beautiful work - can't wait to see the steel.

Paul's work never ceases to amaze me.
As a matter of fact, I have a couple pieces boxed up...
awaiting the trip to Kerrville.

Totally agree. Can't wait to see this with the El Diablo. Great work Paul & STeven!

Nice one, STeven! (I always give Paul VERY specific instructions for a new sheath: "Do whatever you like." ;) )

The more I look at this sheath the more impressed I am. Paul truly rocks. What a great sheath for a great knife can't wait to see whole package. Only thing I would of changed in my humble opinion is that I would have gotten a hand turned oversized damascus stud from Mr. Dean to match the blade. The standard Sam Brown just does not do justice to such a blade and sheath.

That will be a match made in (put your own word here) Fantastic work from a great leather worker and a nice man.:thumbup:

It's a nice touch to get the sheath frog (stud) engraved too match the handle pins.
