pawn shop bargain

If I were you I would buy a perfect lab diamond and sell it at that pawn shop as a flawless diamond mined in South Africa.

If he cannot tell silver, he surely cannot tell the difference between manmade and real diamonds!!:D:D

THAT'S class.

"Beauty is its own excuse for being."

Another definition of class might involve telling the "old man who has never heard of ebay" that he had grossly under priced the item and then spending a few minutes agreeing on a fair deal for you both.

Karma's a bitch.

It's like the $500 Harley Davidson ya hear about from someone but ya never find one yerself.

if you take a 300 dollar item into a pawnshop with the original receipt they might give you 25 bucks if you are lucky. if a person was "really classy" they would pass up the deal altogether to be considerate so that the next guy could buy it.

if some banker were to give me an extra 100 when cashing my paycheck i would and have given it back. so i consider it karma coming back around when i find good deals on things. "never look a gift horse in the mouth." the guy that ran that pawn shop got a lot of business from me and i always sent customers to him for business. he was always very nice to me and gave me good deals on things.

Pawn shops screw people over on a daily basis...it's nice to hear the converse happens sometimes.

Put it up on eBay along with a magnification of The Last Supper where the same knife appears to be sitting on the table beside a loaf of bread. You will never have to work again.

I got my first Harley a long time ago for $800 from a guy who was going bankrupt. Built from the ground up by another guy I know who runs a local machine shop and builds racing car engines. Sitting under a dirty piece of canvas. Rode it home and washed it off, tuned it up, instant $4k bike (back then).

Btw, I own a lot of .999 silver and that stuff is very, very hard??

Good luck on it - hope it's real! :)

If the pawn shop had it priced at $2.99, they probably only paid $1.

So you're right Karma is a bitch.

The hardness of silver lies between 2.5 and 2.7on the Mohs scale of hardness, which is harder than gold but softer than copper, and it has a specific gravity of 10.5.

I seriously would get it tested. I worked at a pawn shop for a couple years and saw some employees mess up so I do believe it may be silver. Seriously though I dont know why anyone would make a sword out of silver for use other than a novelty but cool find anyway.

I can't begin to imagine that any pawn shop would give up 1/2-1lb of silver for $3.

I could see a pawn shop not knowing the value of a knife. But silver?

Get that tested and let us know. Worst case if its not real its a pretty cool looking piece.

I can see the op from his side I go to a local pawn shop often. Recently they had a few knives I wanted I also noticed another new item someones entire zippo lighter collection so I asked to see a few different ones ,after looking at one and feeling that it had a "funny" feel I turned it over and read the bottom it said "Solid Titanium" !! It was priced $15 so I asked if they might throw it in with the knives I was buying the clerk said sure. Long story slightly shorter I sold it on ebay for almost $300 and I got a few fillings with the money .I have had many friends get screwed by that same pawn shop but I did what I did because it is the job of the guy who prices things to know the value after that what else should be done.

I don't doubt the deals exist, I bought both my Nortons in the mid 70s for $500 a piece, you can't touch one these days for under 5K-6K.

I see this getting thrown out all the time, but how does one get "screwed" by a pawn shop? Nobody forces you to accept the price they offer for anything. Solely your choice.

Pretty easy to blame someone else when you can't handle your own finances.

note: I have nothing to do with pawn shops, haven't been inside one for over 20 years.

Yup, it's not even possible for a pawn shop to screw someone, its you screwing yourself, for selling it to begin with or not knowing the value. Pawn shops do what they need to to get by, stupid people cant be to blame.
