Don't forget those pawn shops! I went to a pawn shop the other day and picked up a Kershaw military boot knife and an Al Mar Operator (154CM) for around $50 for both! ($39 for the Al Mar, $11 for the Kershaw). Both in great shape ... a bit scuffed up on the blades, but it was easy to get it back to original sharpness. I'll post pictures of them shortly.

I picked up an original stag handled Blackjack skinner that someone had tried to sharpen with a stone for $35, I took it home and in a short time had the convex edge back to hair popping sharp. It's a beauty.

You guys found good deals! I have only found crappy "toy" knives at pawn shops. Well, I did see one pawnshop that had goodies like Benchmades, but they wanted MSRP prices for used blades :-/

I've found much better deals on craigslist (Kershaw Leek for $8, Spyderco Ladybug for $2, etc.). The deals are best when the owner just has a "bunch" of knives and doesn't know the quality of what he has. I've seen lots of people on craigs citing MSRP and how their $20-30 mark down of it is such a great deal :-/

I used to find good deals on knives in a local pawn shop until they changed owners. This new owner is insane on his prices, 50 dollars for a Buck 110 65 dollars for a buck 112, neither one of them have sheaths. Best deal I ever got was a Buck 307 for 10 bucks.

Before everyone was on the web, I found killer deals in the pawn shops. Best one was a 7 inch blade R-1 Randall for 25.00. Also a couple of Gerber MKIIs for 50.00.

The only pawn shops by me, that I can think of anyway, are in a pretty poor area. They seem to have ancient console systems and things you'd never actually want. The knives I did see were POS china made knockoffs.

Though there are a lot of flea markets around here that can be promising.

I used to see some killer deals on some nice knives at pawn shops years ago, but lately i havn't seen any. Every blue moon you may find some sweet deal if you check them regularly.

The two pawnshops I've been to had decorative knives, crap knives.
The poor area one had two bucks and maybe some nice ones, swords, and fantasy ones.
My local flea market had crap, and a lot of crappy Frost stuff.

All I ever see at my pawn shops are crap China knives that they want a bunch of cash for. If I'm lucky a well used Buck 110.

Most of the pawn shops seem to dump most of their merchandise on ebay anymore. Only keep items that the shipping would make cost prohibitive or video games that turn over fairly quickly locally.
I can remember going into pawn shops before the internet and they would have tons of merchandise to browse through but sadly not anymore.
Maybe the tv show Pawn Stars can persuade more shops to actually keep items in their stores for customers to browse.

Knives I've seen in pawn shops were usually used or broken, or filler for flea market tables. Grossly overpriced in both cases.

Glad to hear that some of you find 'real' knives in those places occasionally.

I picked an older model Robert Ball knife a couple of years ago for around $140 at a local pawn shop during their 15 to 30% off sale they do every June. The guys at Northern Knives couldn't believe I got it so cheap.

Every once in a while I get to pawn shops when I'm on a business trip to a rural area, but here in the city none of them have knives of any sort (usually). The ones that you can find are generally either China-made cheapies, or extremely damaged.

Nice find, JNEVILL !

Yeah, most pawn shops tend to have crappy knives. I think it depends on your location. I live around a military base so pawn shops are plentiful.
