Who else is addicted? I watch it whenever I can. Shown on the local "History" channel here.

I love about the spectrum of both learning about the culture and history behind the objects and artifacts AND the entertainment of the pseudo-dysfunctional family deal goin on (curmudgeony grandad + sarcastic son + gawky grandson)

Wait, that reminds me of my own family! :D

And that Chum Lee fella just cracks me up, man! He's a real scene stealer.

I'm hooked. Been watching it since it first came on. Really starting to like Storage Wars too.

I think it's a great show, I also like American Pickers. Both shows kind of remind me of an updated version of Antiques Roadshow, but with better production value.

I have watched it from day 1. I can't believe that Chumlee is really that stupid.

I guess Rick is as honest as he is portrayed, but that has not been my experience with pawn shop owners. Typically, they are rather shady characters. I have never had to pawn anything, but on occasion I would window shop in some of the shops in Santa Barbara. The pawn shops around here are mostly full of high priced junk. They are defiantly not in the same class as Gold and Silver.

One of these days I will have to make the trip to LV just to check it out.

I'm hooked.Rick's really knowledgeable in a whole lot of different things.

The only con about the show is the old man.He gets on my nerves. He's such a sour puss.:p

Never heard of it, is it anything like American Pickers? I need some more TV series to watch atm.

It's awesome, like antiques roadshow with a pulse. One of my favorites for sure.

Honestly? I wouldn't put it past him in some degree/shape or form. It's a TV show afterall.

Not trying to knock him though. He is a business man in the real world in that line of work.

Yeah he is a sour puss.
Although the last episode I saw, he actually gave the person more than she was asking for. Saying it was only right.

Well, the $50 extra he gave her for that creepy-ass monkey is cheap advertising to appear more honest on cable TV. Even if it weren't on TV, $50 is a small price to pay for the word-of-mouth advertising he'd get, not to mention making it more likely that she'd bring something else in to pawn.

I watch every episode of the show. All the weird, rare, and cool stuff that gets brought in is absolutely fascinating. Especially all the weapons. There's museums that would kill to have some of the stuff they've got in that shop. The ivory gambler's set, with the revolver and Sheffield bowie, was just cool as hell.

I've also been watching the Auction Kings show (same sort of random stuff that gets brought in), as well as those shows on Spike and A&E where they buy abandoned storage units. Although the one where they sold a H&K P7 to the gun store for only a couple hundred bucks pissed me off; they got hosed on that deal, even if the grips were a bit melted from the plasma torch they used to crack the safe it was in.

There's apparently a "Pawn Stars" knockoff show on some other channel ("Hard Core Pawn" I think it's called), but it looks incredibly sleazy.

Its on just before American Pickers I think. Great show.

cheers! I'm in Australia atm (heading back to the US soon hopefully) and TV here is ages behind the US for some things.

that auction kings mentioned I googled it and they have the weapons vids online.

http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/auction-kings-weapons/ <---some of the things they say in that katana video REALLY annoyed me, not a clue.

pretty interesting shows, got seasons 1 - 3 downloading now.

I don't have cable, but, reruns are on nonstop whenever I visit a buddy. He is a big fan. The owner and Chum are entertaining, the father and the owners son don't come across that well. I have bought and sold at pawn shops, never pawned anything, but I'm guessing most of that show is an act put on by the producers. I've seen Pickers, but prefer Pawn Stars. Most of what they get is really neat, and if the product isn't neat, the people are.

sweet show, I love junk. Have yet to see storage wars, everyone is talking about it though. Not to get sidetracked, but I watched a reality repo show last night that stared 2 big hillbillies, cant recall its name, it was awesome.

I like the show too. Very well done and they always seem to have something of interest.
The interaction of the family is done for fun and not for "drama" (like the absurd spin of Amercian Chopper into Sr. vs Jr....puhleeze).

I think they push the level of crediblity a tad with some of the things that are brought in. I realize this is Vegas, and anything is possible, but there is no way some of those items would be carried into a pawn shop for sale.

One of my favorites was the lady who brought in what turned out to be a Faberge egg, which she asked a few hundred dollars for. Rick tells her what it is and that he will give her $15,000 for it. She thinks a second and says "How about 15,500". Gotta luv folks.

If you all enjoy "Pawn Stars", you might also like "Hardcore Pawn". Think "Pawn Stars" on steroids with guns... The Pawn Shop is this show is in down town Detroit. Gets exciting at times.

It's on the TRUTV channel.

I watch it once in a while. I watch it to see some of the interesting stuff that gets brought into the shop; could care less about the drama.

I've caught a couple of episodes of pawn stars but I like Pickers better,it's mostly that I like the old rusty stuff that they come across better.

If you enjoy fake pawn shop reality tv advertised as "tru" tv with fabricated scenes and cheesy actors posing as customers, with staged fights and arguments, "excitement" then Hardcore pawn is for you. Pawn stars on the other hand is in a whole other class. That show is awesome.
