Congrats to combatjiujitsu!

I've been extremely blessed by this forum in the last year or so. So many great folks willing to share their knowledge and passion, and even their hard-earned possessions. This giveaway is continuing the "Pay it Forward" idea started by Rick back in October. I was lucky enough to receive my first Case Peanut from xtonesterx a couple weeks ago, and am paying it forward with a Case Yellow stockman in stainless.

Sorry, no pics.

Anyway, There are no real rules to this, other than once you receive the knife, you are asked to continue the pay-it-forward by sending on a different knife for someone else to receive.

Your post is your entry, and I'll use a random number generator to pick. I might ask that you try to limit your posts to a reasonable number, and maybe add a comment or story highlighting an incident where you either received or sent on a gesture of goodwill.

Let's increase the positive energy in the universe!

Edited to add some history on this knife. I received it as a gift from my Father-in-Law several years ago. It's not been carried a whole lot, but does show signs of carry. My FIL has been giving me nice traditional knives fairly regularly over the years, and as I haven't had to purchase my own, it's come down to giving away a knife I've received as a gift. I realized the other day that I've been blessed by give-aways and have received many gifts, and have not had to purchase a traditional knife, with the exception of the 2011 Bladeforums Traditional and a Le Thiers knife that I can't bring myself to give away. So that leaves me with the re-gifting issue. I guess it doesn't bother me too much, though, as I know the knife will be going to a great home, and my FIL would appreciate it being given to a deserving person.

Thanks for the generous offer!

I'm from the North Texas area. Most of my life I've been carrying just a few simple slipjoints, including a Buck 301 and a few SAKs. I've only been a knife knut hardcore for about nine months now and have purchased an embarrassing number of knives in that short time. First it was Spyderco one hand folders. Then more Victorinox SAKs. Now I'm starting on traditionals.

My giveaways to date have all been in real life, giving away Spydercos to family members and Vic Classics to lots of people. I've been buying NTSA seizure lots of Classics, just so I can spread the love.

If I read the rules correctly, you're going to use my post number as my entry number. Thanks!

Told this story about a year ago and it is still one of my favorites

Uncle's Lost Knife...

I am a big believer in spreading the goodwill of the human spirit...
Been attending my wife's grandfather's funeral for the last couple of days, yesterday one of my wife's favorite uncles remarked how he lost his pocketknife last weekend and it was tearing him up not having it. A few hours later I was making ideal chit chat with him and he told me it was a old Uncle Henry Stockman. Now it just so happens being the Knife Knut that I am, I have two in my possession, when I got home that night I took the old Stockman, sharpened it up real good and dropped it in my pocket along side my yellow nut. When the uncle came in for a handshake I had palmed the knife to him and he pulled it back staring in wonder. He opened the main blade checked the edge and just got this huge grin on his face. Smiling he pulled me in for a hug and asked me how much it would cost him. Smiling back I just told him to take care of it and don't lose this one. He told me when he passes I can have it back. Just seeing his mood change like that seem to brighten up the room a little.

Thanks for the chance!

I'd like to be considered. Don't have a yellow CASE Stockman in stainless so that's my pretext! Will certainly stump up another knife to be passed on as well.

Regards, Will

Thanx for the giveaway.
I have in my possession a kutmaster peanut from probably the 60's that belonged to my high school building trades teacher. He knew I sharpened knives, so he brought it in one day, handed it to me and said "sharpen it". So I did. I even cleaned it out and oiled it. The next day I handed it back to him, used it once to sharpen a carpenter's pencil, then handed it back to me and said "keep it".

Very generous Daniel, thank you.

My wife's uncle passed on Thanksgiving Day 1985, less than six months before she and I were to be married. Fast forward to the next summer, shortly after our wedding, when the estate was being settled. Uncle Dewey had bought a new Remington 870 Wingmaster a few months before he died in his sleep, and hunted with it just once. He left it to his younger brother, my father-in-law. My bride was the baby girl of the family, and you know how dads are with their daughters. I was surprised to hear him tell me to hold on to the Wingmaster, that he knew where it would be if he ever needed it. That was over 25 years ago, and he has never asked for it back.

I am in and thanks for the opportunity!

I dont own any Case knives and the only traditional knife I have is a Camillus four blade knive that I gave my father about 15 years ago but he wouldnt use it cause he said it was too nice. Well, he passed away in Jan. 2011 and he lived with me and the wife for 30 years (my wife says it was a package deal, me and my dad) and when I got cleaning out his bedroom, I found the Camillus knife still in the box, never used. It is the only four blade traditional knife I ever found with a serrated blade. I will never get rid of it.

I too pick up some good deals on used SAK Ramblers and give them away to my kids, other relatives and usually when someone ask me to use a knife to open something, I hand them a Rambler and just tell them to keep it. They give me a "wow" type look and most say "cool, thanks"!.

Sorry to ramble on and on....:)

That is very generous of you Daniel. As I mentioned in another thread, this forum and one other (watch forum) of which I am a member are the only ones I've seen that have this many giveaways.

It wasn't until I joined this forum that I really had an idea of the different kinds of slipjoint patterns. Prior to visiting here I really only knew about trappers and Barlows, and I was never quite sure of all the other ones, especially jack knives.

Now I've managed to purchase an example of almost every one, though a Case yella stockman is still on my list :D

Cheers,
Griff

Thanks for the opportunity.....great gesture on your part, Daniel. Please count me in.

Daniel,
thanks for the chance, and count me in please. Of course, should I win, I will be happy to keep the tradition going and start the "pay it forward giveaway #5".
As for gestures of goodwill, and since this is BF...I'm pretty new to the whole gieaway thing, but I really really appreciate it. I find it awesome.
I gave away a couple knives here already and the whole process was funny and made me feel nice. Now I have another giveaway "running" :) and I'm willing to know who will get my knife. Maybe a gift knife isn't changing anyone's life, but still it's such a nice thing around here, and it does contribute to make this subforum the special place we all know.

Please count me in on this.

A coworker of mine is a fellow knife nut. His father was feeling poorly and was in the hospital. He wanted his knife with him. My coworker got the knife and brought it in to show me before he was going to drop it off.

It's hard to see, but the secondary blade was pretty well used up. I went through my hoard and found a new Imperial just like it, and gave it to my coworker to give to his father.

His father was tickled to receive it!

Please count me in also. A Case yellow stockman would go good with an old Case yellow Trapper that I got at a flea market years ago for $10!
You can count on me to "pay it forward" if I'm lucky enough to win. Thank you.
Paul

OK. Count me in. I've got a nice one to pay forward if chosen.

Count me in! I was fortunate enough to receive a very generous gift from fellow member CAD. Thanks again man! I have only given one knife away on here but if I win, I'd be happy to keep the tradition going.
