Pay it Forward #4 FREE KNIFE Giveaway! Winner: combatjujitsu

Thank you for the opportunity Dan!

I have only given away a knife once. It was for a friend who was travelling to Europe and she wanted to buy a knife to bring with her on the trip.

We were at the farmers market/flea market and she was trying to pick out from a selection of small lock backs. I pointed out to her that some of the countries that she would be visiting would consider it illegal.
She was very surprised as it was such a small knife. She's not a knife person but she said "That's ridiculous isn't a knife with a lock supposed to be safer? Why would a knife with a safety feature be illegal!"

Anyway I ended up giving her my Vic Huntsman that I had and she had a blast in Europe with that knife.

Thank you for doing this. The local surplus has a decent stock and usually when a friend expresses an interest in knives I'll go down there and buy them an opinel, mora, or a Bear & Son slipjoint. I would be more than happy to go pick something up to give away on the forums to pay it forward!

I've given away several knives here so far. I know of a couple of occasions down the road that I am planning for. I'd like to enter the give away and I'll pay it forward if I win.

Thanks for helping to make this the best spot on the internet for traditional knife lovers.

I'm in please, and I'll pay another one forward. My most recent give away was a Spyderco Tenacious on the last job I was on, to one of the guys who helped me out a bunch.

Thank you Daniel, I will offer another story. When my son (also named Daniel) was in second grade we were part of new start-up charter school. We had not hired a librarian yet, so parents took care of library duty. Every Wednesday I took my son's class to the library, read stories to them, and assisted them with checking out books. I kept all the check-out/return records in a log book, and always made my notes with whatever fountain pen I was using that day. Those kids were fascinated by my pens, always wanting to write with them, so our library time also became a weekly penmanship lesson.

On the last library day of the school year I brought in inexpensive Parker fountain pens I had purchased and gave each student his or her own pen. They were ecstatic! That was over a dozen years ago, and I have no idea if any of those students (now halfway through college, if they went) still have the pen or ever wrote again with a fountain pen. Except for one. My son has a handful of fountain pens and does most of his writing tasks with his two favorites, an Aurora 88 and a Parker Duofold.

Isn't it fun to give stuff away?

Thank you for the chance, guy

My neighbor and I are friends, and a few weeks ago he asked me to repave his driveway with him. I agreed, and we finished however long after. He knew I liked knives, so he offered me his older Camillus stockman he carried. It was a nice gesture, but I told to him to keep using it.

OK; I'll throw in for an extra chance. Here's my most recent story. My father was looking through some of his old pocketknives. He was complaining that he wanted something different, but didn't know what that would be. So on Sunday , I brought over my box of knives, some NIB, some not. Some tacticals, slip joints, SAKs, etc. I opened the box and laid all the knives out on the dining room table. I told him to pick whatever he wanted. We went thru them all, me explaining the differences, etc. He ended up picking a NIB Rough Rider large stockman, with brown smooth bone handle and a locking master blade. Said he always wanted a stockman that locked. He loves the thing and I was more than happy to do it!!

Wowzer, Combatjujitsu-- you're on a very nice roll.

This yellow Stockman's going to look great with your Peanut.

Congrats!
