Thank you Daniel, I will offer another story. When my son (also named Daniel) was in second grade we were part of new start-up charter school. We had not hired a librarian yet, so parents took care of library duty. Every Wednesday I took my son's class to the library, read stories to them, and assisted them with checking out books. I kept all the check-out/return records in a log book, and always made my notes with whatever fountain pen I was using that day. Those kids were fascinated by my pens, always wanting to write with them, so our library time also became a weekly penmanship lesson.
On the last library day of the school year I brought in inexpensive Parker fountain pens I had purchased and gave each student his or her own pen. They were ecstatic! That was over a dozen years ago, and I have no idea if any of those students (now halfway through college, if they went) still have the pen or ever wrote again with a fountain pen. Except for one. My son has a handful of fountain pens and does most of his writing tasks with his two favorites, an Aurora 88 and a Parker Duofold.
Isn't it fun to give stuff away?
