When I was in college (early 70's) we made a giant sling shot from surgical tubing and used it to lob water balloons at a formal reception a few hundred yards away. We used walkie talkies and a spotter on a building top to walk the balloons onto the target. It was awesome.
 
wow, I heard of some guys building a launcher and shooting people in the quad with water balloons last year from the 6th floor of the dorms......I wasn't there, I wish I could have been in on that one
 
Couple years ago this rather large beastie trotted in front of our motorcycle in Banff, Alberta
