So I posted a blade up here (in the last PIF thread) and it was claimed, I asked the claimer to send me an email because his wasnt available. I have yet to receive one, what should I do?

Go to his page, see if he has been active. If so, try to contact him once more. If not, it is within your right to choose the next person who asked.

The PIF threads I'm used to: one person offers an item (or more). the person that claims it then offers an item (or more). the person that claims that then offers an item. Nice and simple and easy. Having people just jump on and offer stuff out of the blue makes for chaos. Also helps to know who is just grabbing stuff and who is actually paying it forward (if I offer something now but don't claim something until 3 days later, who gets butt-hurt thinking I'm only claiming something because they missed my offering 20 pages earlier -- considering how fast these threads are moving?). Just a difference in how one views a PIF thread.

I think that's how it started out, but as more people got involved, they came and dumped the stuff they wanted to pass on, checked out who was claiming it, and voila. So far, for six threads, it has worked really well. Don't mind the watchdogs; some people are just trying to look out for others, as there have been a few greedy folks in here.

The way I personally started was by offering my items first, then if I see something I need or want, I speak up. It is all up to you; of course there are quite a few people who state that you have to have posted an item first; that is their way of weeding out looters. Most people just put up their post number or quote their post if it is from another thread. Everyone makes their own terms for giving up items, however.

Yeah and it seems to self police pretty well. The most flagrant looters are pretty easy to spot by folks offering up stuff if they've been watching the thread and there's not even much need to comment on them though I'm sure it pisses us all off. And if I state an interest in something I'm never offended if the giver decides to give it to someone else. I'm sure they have their reasons and I respect that.

One of the nice things about this thread is its a good meeting point for collectors/users of different levels of experience. I'm rather new to knives and am getting to know what works for me so I may not have much but oftentimes I've acquired something that doesn't work for me and I know it might still be great for someone else. So I can put it forward. And then there are folks who have been around for quite a while and may have accumulated quite a bit and they give forward more and usually have less need to jump on items that come up. And I have a lot of gratitude for that kind of generosity of spirt. Sure we may not all be able to give as much as some but if we're grateful then hopefully one day we'll be able to give back more. The examples set here are what good communities are about. Not everyone's collection is equal but you give what you can and take what you need with gratitude and it seems to all balance out.

Ok duuudes.....I'm done looking & listening.(for now)
I don't know if it's my computer or BF,but posting has been a major PITA tonight.

Anyways....it looks like worldwood gets the Buck 860 with Tom Petty & Jerry D gets the Vic for Blackberry Smoke.(since you didn't have a preference.)
Both of you only posted one vid as requested & luckily I liked 'em so you get the knives.;)

I can't believe I don't have any Tom Petty in my collection,but thanks to WW I've got 'em on the list again.(I had some cassetts & used to watch 'em on MTV back when MTV was about music.:rolleyes:)
And I had heard Blackberry Smoke on youtube once when looking for something else but I had forgotten about them,so thank you Jerry for the vid,I'll be adding some Blackberry Smoke to the collection too.:thumbup:

You guys send me your addys & I'll send you a knife.;) :thumbup:


Thanks to the rest of you for the music,I really liked some & some just plain sucked,but what the hell,we're all individuals with different tastes,be it music or knives.:)

I'll be away from the computer for a few days. Maybe more. I've had some recurring health issues, and they're getting worse. Some of you have your items, some are en route, and some are still waiting. I haven't forgotten about y'all.
