I've started 2 threads about PP only. I understand why a lot of guys use PP Only. They want to be sure they're getting their $ right away and not waiting for a USPS MO.

I've notice lately that more members that used to be PP Only are also taking USPS MO's too. I don't have PP and only pay with MO's.

My point is that members that don't have PP and use MO's have a chance to buy more knives.:D

I see a knife sometimes a want to buy, but it's PP Only. The change to PP And MO's is great IMO!

I have always accepted Paypal and Money Orders. However, I have stopped saying Money order in my sales thread recently. Only because out of all the knives I have sold I have yet to have some one want to Pay with a Money Order. Either way works for me, the price for using Paypal goods or Money orders are the same. I always pay the fees witch is not bad at all considering how much faster you get the funds in your account!

I have mostly taken PP but would take a postal money order if asked

On my last 2 sales threads, I listed money order or PP accepted and both buyers paid with money orders, one today for $365.00, and one a few weeks ago for $399.00

From now on, I'm listing money orders or PP accepted in my knife sales threads

Sure don't miss paying the PP fee's on $764.00

I accept both, no sweat. Have been doing that since I started sellin' - someone who can't wait for a postal MO, shouldn't be buying so many knives in the first place. ;-) I even accept a personal check if I know the person. And yes, as a seller, I pay all paypal fees, and do not pile it up on the buyer.

I will gladly accept ether one, even a personal Check as long as the buyer knows that we have to wait until it clears before I ship.

90% plus people pay and buy with paypal, some folks ether have issues paypal or don't do internet banking for whatever reason. I also have never asked a buyer to pay my paypal fees. Its called "cost of sales".

I will be selling more knives here so to clockman and any reading this, I gladly accept all three forms of payment and even good old cash too!

I'll accept PP, personal check and money order. A lot of people like the speed of PP. I had a customer a few months ago ask if I would take a postal MO from him because he hated PP. I said, gladly.

Personally, I prefer postal MO because PP reports everything, but I'll do whatever the customer prefers.

I am fine with USPS money orders, just never remember to post that in my sales threads! Not sure why I keep forgetting that! LOL

I am sure there are alot of folks that dont use Paypal so it is how they buy things. :)

I suspect that if you contact the person or dealer you will find they will accept Money orders, and cashiers checks in many cases even though it's not listed. I know we sure do.

It certainly never hurts to ask, especially those members here with some time and transactions to their credit.

I am going to put something out there so the sellers know: If I see "Paypal only" in your thread, I assume that you are purposely excluding other forms of payment. And for me to ask you, the seller, if you would take a money order is rude, to me. It is like walking into a store with a big "No Checks!" sign on the cash register and asking if the store takes checks. Just my opinion.

Squashfan, standing on your dignity can be a precarious exercise. What if you slip and fall?
This is an internet forum. It was established to encourage conversation. We do have certain restrictions, but a polite request to a buyer or seller can only be taken well -- or you know you won't want to do business with them.

There was a past thread about money orders and someone had a great idea. So great, if it could be implemented, I think it could compete with PP's only true advantage... which is speed. Online purchasing of a money order with instantaneous proof that it was bought and will be sent to a receiver/seller. For $0.50 more, it would be automatically sent to the recipient. I think the PO could make a lot of money off of this while still remaining true to its mission as a public service. They need new revenue streams.

The closer sellers get to an end point, the higher the probability of a completed transaction, rather than time left for second guessing. The problem with money orders is a seller is relying on a buyer to actually send the MO. That’s leaves a time gap. A seller wouldn't know for at least 2-3 business days if a buyer actually paid. With PP there is no time gaps so it eliminates time in which humans can use to second guess themselves. Also, MOs are kind of a pain, people have to go and get them and receivers have to go and cash them. That costs. Seems like a pain, yet another “I don’t want to do all this work! I don’t need that knife anyway. I’m taking off” opportunity. Also, with PP, if a buyer flakes, not much thread positioning is lost. With a MO thread positioning would be totally lost. I’ve seen it, page views dramatically drop off once they reach halfway through page 2. By the time you find out a buyer flaked, your thread will be on page 3 or 4.

I believe the Postal Service could do this. Going by previous attempts to enter a retail market, we found that private industry complained that we were competing unfairly with them, and their Congressmen got our programs shut down.

if they find out you are taking the money for a switchblade they will reverse the money and the person gets to keep the knife too.
