Went to pay-pal the other day to print a shipping label for a knife I sold , as most of you may know PP now uses ship station to print the labels .
Well a notice from ship station popped up saying that the USPS now requires a business name using PP and ship station to print labels .
Found that curious .

I would try them again just in case it was a glitch. I use it regularly (with a business account though) and Shipstation had all sorts of issues last week. It was unable to pull payment from Paypal automatically and wanted me to pre-pay a deposit, then it would not format a label properly, etc.... next day fewer glitches but still not right, by the weekend all was running as usual.

What you describe may be a permanemt change but as wonky as it has been the last week it could just be a glitch too

I tried again this morning and they are still asking for a business name before they will print a label for me from PP . I do believe it has something to do with the new IRS / tax rules .
Click and ship has been fine .

Try going straight to https://paypal.shipstation.com/ to print the shipping label, rather than selecting the "print a label" option (or whatever it's called) in PayPal itself. You'll have to manually enter the recipient's shipping info (and send the recipient the tracking number in a message, rather than it being sent to them automatically by PayPal), but other than that it's easy. I have a feeling that should work.

What astounds me, is the fact that there are still so many member's here, who continue to support a company that put their true political "WOKE" feelings out there front and center; then, the only reason they backtracked was because of the huge back lash they received. I'm proud of the stance I took (sending them a big F.Y), by deactivating my account.

^ Make no mistake about it, this was no "error" on their part.

What's even worse, are the member's here, whom continue to use/support this Woke company, selling their GOODS, and then having the audacity to insist that you send them YOUR hard earned $$$$ for their Goods, via the F&F options; and then use the defense: I don't want to get dinged by the new 1099 tax laws. GMAFB!

It's really hard to believe, that there are so many weak, pathetic hypocrites here, who continue to use PP as a venue to sell their items. Wherever I see TOS PPFF in the sales forum, all I see, is a big F*%K YOU!

Quoted for sh#ts and giggles

I’m sure they’re broken hearted about losing your business. 🤔 No problem with your stance, but why the need to trumpet it?

I am sure it has been discussed to death elsewhere, but what are the alternatives? It's seems that many or most sellers on the knife exchange only take PPFF or Zelle. I mainly buy and don't sell, so neither appeal to me as a buyer from a private party.

I'm with ya man, but until there is an exact paypal competitor they kind of have a monopoly. At least, in terms of convenience.

Zelle, cash app and the like are cool but they have almost no buyer protection.

This thread is getting off topic of why I started it . Here are my thoughts on why the USPS is demanding a business name to print a shipping label through PP . As we all know the new $600.00 tax rule for using a service for goods and services . We will receive a 1099K form , we have the choice to say it is a hobby and we pay the tax or it is a business and go that route .

So say someone gives the USPS a business name and at the end of the year they decide instead to call it a hobby , the IRS then says WAIT , your are listed as a business therefore you owe social security tax as well as medicare tax sorry .

If you have kept the receipts for the income and expenses , you will be ok but if you did not , you will owe some money .
Just my thoughts on how this could play out as I do not trust this administration at all , plus we got 87,000 new irs agents .

I just write the addresses on the box and take it up to the counter at the post office to buy postage. Since this is just a hobby for me, it's not like I'm having to mail stuff every day.

I got lazy  and like to print it out and just drop the box off prepaid . 😁

same, and although I missed the convenience of having paypal and the print easier, the hospital moved us closer to another post office. but I havent sold anything in ages.

I'm kinda old school. I want to see the package scanned in, and the nice lady print me a reciept with the tracking number. (Sometimes I'll even pay by writing a check just to annoy the whippersnappers in line behind me.) ;)
