You can no longer ask for F&F method of payment per Exchange's rule which also applies here in this sub. Additionally, F&F is against PP's rules when it comes to transactions on goods and PP has been catching and purging accounts which have been in egregious violation of their TOS in this regard.

The rules of "the exchange", as they exist presently, state, among other things, the following:

Sellers/Selling -
  1. Be 100% sure that you want to sell the item, have it in your possession and clearly list the TOTALselling price.
    • There is no "testing the waters" or "gauge buyer interest".
    • "Net to me" needs to be figured into your LISTED PRICE
    • Insurance is the responsibility of the SELLER not the Buyer. This is for your protection.
    • Paypal "friends & family" is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED. This is for your protection.

and for "Buyers / Buying":

  1. Warning: You as a buyer are responsible for using Paypal as it was intended, according to their Terms of Service. Using the "Gift" option revokes any buyer protection you may have if something goes wrong and makes it easier to get scammed. Be smart and protect yourself, if you use gift and get scammed don't come crying to us about it as you've already been advised.

That said, I personally have no issue if Nate and Jo want to restrict the use of Paypal on this sub-forum to listings which use the service properly and as intended.

And frankly, I think it might be worthwhile for Spark Spark to consider making it a site-wide rule.

^ thank you for correcting me on the F&F per Exchange's rules.
Just to err on the side of caution, I want to emphasize that the post was meant only for the sake of clarity, not to point out any error on your part.

This continues to be a subject with which many of our members have difficulty on a daily basis.

The main issue I see re. the rules with the sellers listing F&F prices is that they kinda 'bend' that part of rule #1 that prohibits posting 'net to me'. They're basically saying 'net to me' without actually writing 'net to me' :(
Cheers,
C.

Members I don't know, I always deal with G&S. If I've done multiple positive transactions with outstanding members here, I send as F/F. They are in fact a forum friend. I know that's frowned upon, but paypal is anti 2A, so I'm working on the next best method for payment.

Not sure what this has to do with certain members bending the BF rules (net to me pricing), but you do you.

In any case, by using F&F for a business transaction (regardless if the other party is a friend or not) is a breach of contract between you and PayPal. Instead of stealing from PP, if you're so against them, you shouldn't use their services at all, being those F&F or G&S. But, I guess, they're good when you have that protection as a seller/buyer, but bad because of your perceived impression of their political stand. Seems a bit hypocritical...

I don't know that arguing the politics, policies and corporate culture of paypal are the best use of our resources here in this sub-forum.

We know what the stated forum policies are, as outlined above. Beyond that it's up to individuals to do as they see fit, bearing in mind any consequences that may or may not be involved.

Paying with F/F is within BF rules.

Paying with F/F is within BF rules.
But not within PP's T&C, which you agreed to when you signed up...

Blues is right, this is not the place and, honestly, I was just pointing out the 'net to me' rule breaking...

The way I see it, it would be illogical to ban Paypal F&F whilst still allowing other forms of payment that don't provide purchase protection. It's up to the buyer to decide if they want to use a form of payment that provides them protection, but if they do, then the buyer should pay for the incremental cost, not the seller.

Why do keep saying 'paying with F&F'? There is NO paying with FF.

This is from PP T&C:
'You can also use the send money feature in your PayPal account to pay for good or services. You will not be charged any transaction fee for sending money to purchase goods or services as long as you choose the “send money to pay for goods and services” feature in your PayPal account. In that case, the seller will pay the fees. You must not use the “send money to a friend or family member” feature in your PayPal account when you are paying for goods or services.'
