One of my valued customers has informed me that PayPal refuses to send me money to pay for the invoice I sent him for his knives. I called PayPal customer service thinking maybe there has been a limitation put on my account, and the lady informed me that there is no limitation. My buyer told me that he also talked to PayPal customer service and there is no limitation on his account either, and that he also he used PayPal recently for a few hundred dollars worth of purchases. But he has apparently tried to pay my invoice, and PayPal would not let it go through. He said he even tried to send me a gift payment outside of the invoice and even that would not go through. But just moments ago I received a PayPal payment without a problem, so it seems like the PayPal customer service agent was truthful when she told me that my account is in good standing with no limitations.

Why can this one person not send me money through PayPal, but others can send me money, and he can send money to others? Has anyone else experienced anything like that and is there a known fix? Thanks.

Has he been able to send money through PayPal after trying to pay the invoice? It sounds like something on their end, if it was me having trouble sending a payment I’d double check simple things, address on file being correct/matching invoice, account used to fund PayPal being linked properly/has money to cover transaction, making sure I have the correct account linked and it’s not paired with the wrong bank/card. Just throwing some ideas out there.

Might be related to his computer/device and the website. By computer/device, I mostly mean browser. When weird things happen like that, clearing the cache seems to correct many of them. That's where I would start at least. And/or try a different web browser.

I used to have to order food for takeoit using a different web browser because one struggled to work properly with the payment. It just wouldn't process the payment as if I never hit the "submit" button. It reminds me of that.

In any case, we found a workaround. My buyer was willing to send the funds to another member, who then sent them to me. But that is the first time I have ever had to do anything like that. Still, PayPal has treated me well as a customer for over a decade now, so please don't read this thread as a complaint against them.

Did you call them and ask about it? I once had PayPal hold funds from a previous transaction because my customer had reported unauthorized activity on his account. Someone had managed to get his login and use his account to buy a bunch of exercise equipment, and so when PayPal began their investigation, they placed a hold on my transaction too, in error. So I contacted them, gave them documentation and tracking numbers, and my customer also contacted them and let them know that the transaction in question was authorized, and not part of the breach. It took a week or so, but they removed the hold on the funds.

David I suspect this has absolutely nothing to do with you and is an issue with your customers account.
When I say issue I am not referring to anything nefarious but rather some flag that has been raised on his account. It could be for many things, only the bank algorithm knows for sure.
In the intangible world of zero's and one's these things happen. It's why I like knives and cash so much! :)

So PayPal invoice, Did you put a Due-date on the invoice? Sometimes people are not able to pay, when you set a specific Due-date or when you didn't set the Due-date to "Never". I had it several times.

Very interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind and try it out next time I run into this.
