paypal works great! But have any of you noticed on your visa bills a extra "up front charge fee" I was using Capital One they consider it a money tranfer and charge a 2.5% fee for the transaction. You buy a $441.00 knife and thats an additional $11.00.
Checked with my other visa card and they don't charge this fee, they thought. paypal must be so new I had two go through 3 levels to get to someone who even knew what it was. Cost of doing business I guess.

Mike, I think that PayPal can help you with the extra charge to your card if you contact them.

I use my Mastercard and I didn't have any trouble with an extra charge. I guess I'll stay away from my Visa though.

Glad to be informed about this. I had questions about hidden charges before. Somehow it comes as no surprise some of the companies want a fee for moving our money. I have said it before "all the thieves are not in jail, some own banks"

I have not noticed a fee on my Visa for using PayPal after several transactions. Everyone needs to check the terms with their bank or credit union and if there is a surcharge, I'd be finding a new lender.

Hmmmmmmm, I guess that fee is coming from the Credit Card Companies I presume. PayPal does advertise as "free". So far on withdrawals made on my account I have noticed no fees deducted yet......... Keep us posted.
Also guys, make sure when you get your activation number in the mail to reactivate your account. If not, you will only have a$200 limit as opposed to $5000.

That is correct Mike, it is the credit card doing the charging and it seems to vary depending on which bank visa card one is using. Apparently some do and others don't charge this fee on a PayPal type of transfer. I am trying to get through to paypal and see what they say. I will post when I can get an answer from them. I will look for a bank card that doesn't charge this fee as the PayPal idea makes it really smooth I think for both seller and buyer. I just need better bi-focals for the fine print.

The end of this story, in April paypal changed the coding they used to charge my credit card. At that time my credit card co. reversed their previous charges. Today I finally got a e-mail from paypal telling me to call my credit card company and tell them not to charge me a upfront fee since it was a personal transaction

Good info there Mike. PayPal so far has been real easy for me to use, seems to take about 3-4 days to withdraw funds from it.
