Paysan Help

Jeez its just a knife! I think its pretty cool they are offering one of similar value. Heck get their offered, sell it and get another Paysan if you want to.

I beg to differ.

It's an $800 MSRP ($560 MAP) knife that cannot be replaced because it is no longer being made and finding an exact replacement would cost as much or more than the original purchase price.

In order to sell it, the OP would have to do the "Locktite" repair which with full disclosure would, substantially reduce the resale value of the knife.

If the OP were a "d*cK" which I do not believe he is, he could withhold that info, sell it for full resale value and then buy another Paysan or a different knife but would have to live w/the fact that he basically f*cked another knife collector.

Why put him in that position if it is NOT necessary to do so?

Agree to disagree.
Apologies to the thread maker, I have no solution for what you ask for. Further I should not have posted what I did(pissed, I know better)and start this going down this road. To clarify one point I think might apply, pretty sure you have to send it back to get the one offered, might want to clarify this though with them(in case you decide to follow through). Good luck with your endeavor.

Yea I couldn't live with the guilt passing on this problem to someone else.

I don't see myself getting rid of this knife, so any method that can secure the lockpin fully is visible to me, even if I had to loctite it. However I would prefer to pursue a method that doesn't involve some sort of gluing if possible, but desperate times may call for desperate measures....
