I've seen Gough Custom dip entire completed knives into this for a real dark finish. He uses all G10 handles. But I was wondering, will this affect wood? And how does it not affect the epoxy? I'd like to do this same thing but for less time to give it what I like to call "The lazy mans stone wash"....

Just curious if I have to worry about something before dipping a finished blade into some acid.... I've used it before but for just some simple blade affects. Not tang and all....

I've done it with dark g10 and some micarta. I apply it to the spine with a qtip if I'm using a wood handle.

I've done this recently with a finished knife. And I taped off the handle before doing so and some of the pcb solution cam through the tape on the wood handle and it kind of stained it. As far as the epoxy I didn't notice any effects on it. I kept my blade I for ten min and got a fairly dark finish I will post a pic

Thats a good Idea. Maybe tape it off first.

Hmm, Interesting. I guess I was just curious. More than likely the only knives I will want to put this finish on will be either G10 or Micarta so. Should be ok then.

after a little bit of sanding the wood came back to normal.

Nice. Yea I like the dark color. I may try it on my next knife with G10 and darken the whole blade and tang.
