My second Spyderco lockback, the plain edged Manix arrived today. Certainly seems like a truck but did a great job of slicing a tomato for lunch. Fit and finish are excellent and it came very, very sharp. Sharpness rivals that of Cold Steel's knives for out-of-box sharpness.

Got mine today too. Couldn't wait any longer, now that they are discontinued. Awesome, awesome blade. Reminded me why I love Spyderco so much: Pure, uncompromising function and quality without all that cheesy dressing up. All business.

Got mine too. Was not impressed with the horizontal blade play but a bit of tightening on the pivot fixed that up, easy. Looks like I have enough Manixes to last a lifetime now.

Hopefully the rumors are true and they come out with a Manix 2.

I have a touch of horizontal play on my mini, absolutely no vertical. I can tighten the pivot, but unless the adjustments needed are micro, the trade off between the increase in opening resistance vs. less blade play is quite intense.

I dont know much about the pivot mechanism etc but it seems to have some sort of cam / elliptical action - which when tightened all the way reduces horizontal play to nearly nothing... and makes opening very stiff - but when loosened 1/4 turn loosens the opening action dramatically, but allows significant blade play to creep in.

Maybe Im just turning it all wrong..

Love the knife to bits though. Forgive me for, at this stage, kind of hoping they dont have a Manix II.. I seems to have bought 6 spydies in as many months and am panicked at this phenomenon right now... I dont want to imagine how many more I might be likely to buy!

I have a Manix I used for gutting animals because of the blade shape. It is a solid knife and heavy with good steel. I recently bought a Buck Omni Hunter with a 4' folding blade. My Spyderco Military is my EDC, but my Buck goes hunting. I guess that is why we live in America. Too many choices. MV out! :jerkit:
