Finally after many failed attempts, I will be attending Marty Simon's PEACE gathering at The Wilderness Learning Center:thumbup::)


If you don't know what this gathering is about, here is a brief summary.


We go to WAR every fall (Labor Day Weekend) so we 're having PEACE (People enjoying another campraderie experience) in the spring. (Memorial Day weekend). PEACE, like WAR is a free event, open to all. It’s about camping, survival, knives, the outdoors and meeting like minded folks for a really good time. This is a family friendly event, children and friendly dogs are welcome but you are responsible for their behavior. You are also responsible for your meals, water and garbage. What you bring in you bring out. Light drinking is permitted. We have 4 nice clean outhouses for your convenience but no showers. During the weekend we will have a variety of seminars on survival and the outdoors including a wild plant walk, knot tying class, knife sharpening seminar and more. An air rifle shoot, sling shot and primitive fire making competition is also planned. We also hope to have a seminar on on flint knapping again. Saturday afternoon we will have a (trade blanket) swap meet. Bring anything you want to sell or trade that is outdoors related. Also several vendors will have outdoor stuff to sell. A potluck supper is planned for Sunday evening for anyone wanting to participate. Anyone desiring to arrive a day earlier is welcome but we might put you to work.
We have plenty of space for tent or RV camping on the grounds but no RV hookups. Don’t forget your folding camp chairs. We also have 4 different fire pits for primitive cooking if you so desire. Each night we will have a huge campfire to end each evening. Somehow the campfire seems to be the most entertaining part of the event. Is there anyone else going or would like to go. I am heading up early Saturday morning with Siguy. I can fit 1 maybe 2 more for the long trip.

Sounds like fun! Wish I could take you up on the carpool:D but I'm guessing you won't be coming close enough to pick me up, huh?

Gene, I have a tent that will be big enough for you and the family. Let me know, and I'll bring it up.

I'll be using the hammock.

If the weather report holds true, we eill have clear skies Sat and Sunday with temps around 70F. Just about PERFECT!

But if Joezilla gets me that knife back in time, your work will make it up there!
 
I'd love to go, but I'll just be leaving the hospital on late Saturday morning. One of these days I'm going to be able to attend. Maybe WAR when it comes around again.

Unfortunately, I can't take it off, and by the time we round in the morning & finish up the busy work, I don't leave until 9 am or so (and by then I've been up for 18-20 hours, so not a great companion on a trip).

Have a great time & take lots of pictures.

Hey Dan, You will have ablast if you go.

Some of the best people in the game will be there!

I am going only for Saturday and Sunday. I plan on leaving Peace on Sunday around 5 or 6 pm.

Which will mean we will get back home between 10 and midnight on Sunday
 
see you guys there..side note Bug Juice! Black flies were bad last year usually no problem but go prepared.
 
OK, I had to make several promises, but the wife says we can go..i will check my schedule at work, maybe i can take Friday off, so that we can get up there early. Are there gonna be any other children there? I will have the newborn which will be tent and carrier bound, but my little hell-raiser is turning 3 that weekend, so she will be my little sidekick for the whole event.
I am pretty excited, I cant wait to see all you guys again, and to see Marty and Aggie. No promises on how long we will stay..basically if momma or the little ones crap out, so will I.
Tony, I will take you up on that tent Bro, I will see if I can get one before hand, and keep you posted.

Change of plans for me.

My lovely wife said. "I can't believe your driving 6 hours there and 6 hours back to stay 1 night; Thats ridiculous! Why not try to take Friday off of work as well?"

I kind of just stood there like a retard and said "O...K....."

:)So thats the new plan. Heading up Friday AM, and leaving Sunday late afternoon:thumbup:
