Peanut convert at IKEA.

I'm sure the knife will be treasured for years to come, but most important is that he will never forget meeting you.....

I can just see the newlyweds sitting there. Shes admiring the new furniture and he's sitting there fondling his new yellar peanut :D

Another nice story. Josh isn't the only person that JK has given shooting tips to. A few months ago I got my first rifle, a CZ 452, and JK explained the holy trinity to me when I asked him how to improve my shooting. His advice has helped me tremendously. I love taking the 452 to the range and my little .22 rifle has now become my second favorite gun, next to my 1911 of course.

The young man stuttered some, and told me he had to pay me for the knife.

"Okay, make it a quarter."

He looked confused, so I told him about the old superstition about a coin in return for a knife.

(edits mine) Okay, I grew up in North Carolina, and I thought I'd heard of just about every traditional belief & superstition there is - but not this one. What's the one about the "coin in return for a knife"?

thx - cpr

The way I was told it by my elders when I was a kid; If you gift a knife to somebody, they have to give you a coin in return or the knife will cut the friendship, and bring bad luck.

I never argue with old superstitions.

Well, almost never.

jackknife - thanks for the info - I haven't heard that one. I'll remember it though.

I've often thought about the pleasure it would give me to do what Jacknife did, and I have done so once or twice. It's not often that I come across someone who would really appreciate it, and that's what makes it a neat gesture when the opportunity arises.

Speaking of damascus, I've seen a damascus Case Tiny Trapper that I wouldn't mind myself. We are thinking of participating in a community tag sale that benefits the local fire dept., and this would be a cool thing to blow the earnings on!

I am one of those you did for, Foilist, giving me one of your fine multitools in my time of need. As you said to me, it was the folksy thing to do, and believe me, I appreciate it EVERYday. Thanks again.
