Peanuts have been big discussion items here on the forum. So I decided to do a small comparison and show you two different knives.
1. Your standard Case Peanut
2. A Case Jack knife #62087
The reason for the comparison is how similar the 2 knives are. 62087 is kind of like a jumbo peanut. Like it just kept on growing, blade shapes (its a little hard to see the swedge in the jack you have to look closely) are similar, bolsters somewhat the same. The 62087 is 3 1/4 inches in length when closed and has become somewhat of a favorite for me to carry. I have always been a fan of 2 bladed knives and this one just seems to fit the bill. The little jack is nothing special and the delrin has been carried for so long its pocket worn. Just some of my observations.

After not being able to warm up to the Peanut because of it's size is too small for my hands to work with, I was looking for something small enough for a pocket watch pocket carry and a little bit larger than the Peanut. I bought one of these to see if this frame was the answer.
Case XX Black Jack Knife. 22087SS pattern. 3 1/4" closed length. Stainless Steel clip and pen blades. Slick Black Composition handles. Nickel Silver bolsters and inlay shield.

I don't usually don't like anything less than 3 1/2 inches closed but this little 3 1/4 I'm getting used too. Just wish they made one in Black and CV.

LOL :D

Should I post the AC/DC YouTube song, Big Case Peanuts? :D

Wow!

Should we call them, Big 'nuts?

Carl.

Oh I don't know---Big nuts?, extra large nuts, jumbo nuts, nuts galore? I don't know maybe we should turn it into a vote kind of thing, or an opinion poll, I'm sort of a jumbo nut kind of guy:rolleyes::D. of course I'm referring to what to call them--the knife that is.. Then again I don't know if I could walk around telling people I've got my jumbo nut, or big nut, or nuts galore, in my pocket. I'll just leave it to you folks. This kind of thing could drive me------awww I won't say it----crazy. Ms. Jenkins!!!!!! flip the switch

I do like the peanut blade configuration, and prefer the slightly bigger Case Jack, or the GEC #66. As times goes by, I get more and more confident that my "sweet spot" for knives is between 3,25" and 3,5" closed length. I find it very nice that you can find the same knife (meaning the same pattern and blade combo) in different sizes. Maybe I was spoiled by Opinel.
My wish, though, is to see one of these knives with a secondary (smaller) straight edge blade (a wharncliffe/sheepsfoot) instead of a pen. Something like a Jumbo AG Russell peanut ;)

no no, the big nut is the 5 blades peanut :D
found a peanut group searching for a picture  http://www.iknifecollector.com/group/casepeanutgroup

I have the Case 22084SS, and it's a nice middle-of-the-road cutter between the Peanut and 3-1/2" patterns.

well the blade is configured just like a peanut only larger. I think that is what I like about it.

Yea no CV. That would really be nice. You're right

On the other hand, I really like Case stainless for Food, ease of clean up and low maintenance, also when working outside in wet conditions.

Wouldn't a Dogleg jack be considered sorta peanutty, only larger? I know GEC produced a dogleg jack (the 561210 Northfield) that was somewhere around 3-½" closed.

I have a Peanut (bottom) and what they call a Pen Knife (middle) in their yellow CV series.

I prefer the pen knife; it's just that bit longer, but the same thickness. Single spring.

Isn't a large peanut just a medium jack?

+1 for the suggestion of black/cv Case jack

I agree, just as there are many sizes of the Trapper, isn't the Peanut just a small Jack Knife?

With few at 3 1/4, I've been searching what is available in 3 1/2+ Jack Knives in CV to fill the bill, without returning to the favored 4 to 4 1/2 frames. The Barlow is another choice when looking for something larger than the Peanut but more bulky than the Jack. I have owned and carried Barlows for years, in the past, but I've been eyeing the Jack Knife as a second EDC for the smaller blades for more choices in cutting tools when carrying larger EDC's.

The other option is the Case Swayback like the one Gus carries now and then.
A knife I think also is a good option for us who own the Peanut, get out to look at and enjoy owning it, but it's just too small to carry and use safely, which makes these large Peanuts/medium Jacks a good choice for us Lone Wolves of Traditional Knives.

Case XX Sway Back Jack Chestnut Bone CV Knife. TB62117CV pattern. 3 1/2" closed length. Chrome Vanadium Carbon Steel Wharncliffe and pen blades. Rich Chestnut Bone handles with Nickel Silver bolsters and inlay shield.

I just hope not carrying a Peanut, isn't a Bannable Offense. :D
