Peanuts!!!

If I had to pick one, it would be the chestnut.
I've had great experiences with Case's CV steel, and the chestnut is one of my favorites.

I wish you luck on your one knife quest, it'll be a tough one I think, but if there was ever a knife to do it with, it would be a peanut. Classy and classic all over, they feel great in a pair of dress pants, but are just as at home in a hunting vest. I look at them as a little reminder knife, I like to slip one out of my pocket and just play with it in my hand for awhile enjoying a campfire blaze and remembering a good hunt. They are a feel good pattern all over. Two very pretty knives, if they were mine, the damascus would pull off the Sunday EDC.

Why don't you throw down $5-$10 on a rough rider peanut just to test the pattern?
I used to hate them until I forced myself to carry one just to see what the fuss was about.
I'm afraid most of the blame rests on Carl and his charming stories.
I would now say it's my favorite pattern, and I ordered three more today :D
Once you try one, you realise how useful it is to have a small knife that disappears in your pocket, but will do 99% of what most people use a knife for. It's like it's not even there until you need it.
It may look like a toy, but it has a central liner and a nice little thumb rest on the back of the handle, so it's surprisingly strong and controlable.

Sorry for the peanut evangelism :D
 
If it's the pattern you like, you need a backup/spare. They are both gorgeous, my vote would be to keep them both. "Two = One, One = None", someone once told me.

I have nothing against RR, but I don't like stainless steel in traditional folders. Finally I'll get one in chestnut bone, I just need an excuse, and my name day is the next one :)
I'm looking for job now, so I feel that's not the best time to spend money on toys. Even, if the toy is cheap ;)

Out of the two I'd pick the SAK :-) I like Peanuts, I've got two of them and they are very nice, but I never seem to carry one.
There just seems to be so much more that you can do with say the SAK Cadet than you can with the Peanut.
I know where you Peanut guys are coming from, I've tried to convince myself that all I need is a mini Trapper or a Barlow, but
when push comes to shove its the SAK that rides along with me. I'd love to be a traditional one knife guy but as Carl says we
here on this forum have the disease for which there is no cure. I'll happily slip a Peanut in my pocket but the SAK has to ride shotgun.
Can a man love two women? I don't know, but I'm sure you can love two knives. I'm definitely a traditional sort of guy in every way, yet
I can't go the last mile. I think I could be 70% happy with just a Peanut but the last 30% would kill me :-)
 
I think that's part of the sickness...when I carry one, I actually feel like I'm cheating on the other. My rational mind says these are tools, damnit. Inanimate objects with no feeling either way. But the romantic in me? It feels like I'm choosing between two souls. Maybe I should take the money I'd spend on more peanuts and go to therapy.
