"Pecking order" for Traditional (Production) "Scandi/Puukko" Knives.

There are plenty of very well made scandi/puukko knives available. They are finished like jewelry, are very ergonomic to use and have really good blades. That being said, for me knife is a tool and I like more tool-like appearance than arts and jevelry. One thing I really like is hard carbon steel, which is not too brittle. Currently my favorite is Roselli´s UHC blade. It´s takes a really angry edge, stays sharp for along time and has a really cool dark mirror look when polished. Soon I will try out Lauri´s induction hardened blade and I hope, that it a capable of challenging Roselli´s blades.

I think you will like the Lauri Progression Tempered blades. IMHO they are easier to sharpen (true flat Scandi grind w/micro bevel) whereas Roselli are slightly convexed.

I make new bevels to a Roselli knife before I start using it. Often the factory bevels are not that accurately grinded and I like true flat scandi bavels anyway. I hope, that Lauri induction hardened blades can be used with or without a micro bevel.

Yes, no problem. I had trouble finding makers who used Lauri PT blades. Most major makers just use carbon Lauri. I ended up buying just the Lauri PT blades and crafted my own handles.

Same here. I´m planning to make two knifes around Lauri PT blades. The first of them will have a birch bark handle. The second one will have leather and maybe also some bone.
