Our SAR team did an overnight training this past weekend, and we were fortunate to have a
USAF SERE Instructor (assigned to a Combat Rescue Squadron) join us.
They'd been over there for one tour, and are set to go back for another.
His stories were fascinating (including the burnt helo), and his expertise amazing!
My dad did 4 tours in Vietnam as a PJ. Do not really know much about his experience. He never talked about it or much about Vietnam. Left the PJs after the war and got into munitions. Retired from Air Force with 23 years. I have only learned in the past 5-10 years how tough PJs are. He just passed away at the end of July. I wish he would have told me some stories.
