Pen-Knife Arrives!!!!!

I'm holding out for Sarge

Well hold out no longer my friend (trumpets blaring accompanied by choirs of angels singing), it has arrived!!!:D :) :D :)

Beautiful! Pen, you're a genius, you nailed it buddy. This knife is everything I'd hoped it would be. I just got it put in my hands a couple of hours ago, but those hands are already raw from de-rusting, polishing, and honing, this little beauty. It now looks almost as good as the day Bura made it, and what a fantastic job he did, blood clot or not, monsoon or not, Maoists or not. The small amount of pitting that remains on the blade will stay just as it is to remind me that while life is full of hardship, hardship can be overcome by those who persevere.

Too much stuff going on this evening, and running out of daylight quick, so testing will have to wait until morning. For ideas I've been checking out the master bladesmith test on the American Bladesmith Society's web site. Don't worry, I have no intention of replicating the destructive portion of that test, it had me cringing just reading it.

I know it's hard for some "bent blade" fanatics to get excited about this little khuk, but it fairly screams heavy duty camp knife and big game "processor". When I get back to the Lone Star state, I'll head over to a friend's ranch and use the Pen Knife to prepare a goat for the tender embraces of mesquite smoke. That's knife testing I can sink my teeth into:)

RE: Rusty Blade

Just had to add in a quick explanation regarding the references to rust on my Pen Knife. As Uncle had previously stated, some of the Pen Knives arrived in Reno with varying degrees of rust on the blades due to the monsoon soaked conditions in Nepal. I intentionally asked Uncle Bill for the rustiest one he had (which really wasn't all that bad) because I intend to put it to rigorous use, and besides, the really "pretty" ones should go to Pen and others responsible for the development of this great little knife. I'm not exactly in "mint condition" myself, but I can still get the job done. ;)

Thanks for all the good words, tests, etc.

I hope to see more of these in the future. ;)
