I've not been around the forums much lately...:(

But I've come with an idea for something fun. ;)

How about a Pen Knife Pass-Around?
(like the now infamous salsa pass-around)

I'll take the first 10 to sign up.

You get my Pen Knife for 3-5 days and then pass it to the next person on the list. If you want to add a review to this thread, you can - but it's not required.

Here are the rules:

1 - US only (sorry)

2 - Shipping is US Priority Mail w/$100 insurance (no exceptions)

3 - Keep the knife for a maximum of 5 days.

4 - After the list is complete, I will put the names in geographical order to save time & money.

5 - Use the same box - I will provide the shipping box. Just cover it with new paper when you send it out.

6 - No matter what, don't break rule #2 :)

If you missed out on the Pen Knife, here's your chance to try it out without committing to the money first. I've reserved a few spots already for people who have expressed their interest in the past.

Sign up in this thread and then send me your mailing address via email

I'm also open to people playing around with it a little. For example: If you think it would be better with a full convex edge, put one on it and the rest of us will try it out, etc., etc.

I'll be ordering another one when we make the next run, so I'm not going to cry if this one gets "modified"...:D

Sarge = thanks for the inspiration for this pass-around.

Bob = yes. I actually still have the envelope from the whimsy with your address on it. Call me a sentimentalist. :p

I think it's a great idea Dan, as long as there's a future prospect for more of them to be made. Otherwise it would be most unkind to hand someone a compact khukri that chops like a BAS, and slices like a really good bowie, and then tell them they "don't make those anymore".:( ;)

Heck, I'd even offer up mine, but I'm "on the bubble" for another plane ride, so it's honed, greased, and ready to go in the duffle bag. Now that I've got some experience with khuks, what would I carry on another trip to the combat zone? Easy, Pen Knife on the belt, 16.5" WWII lashed to the ruck. Both by Bura, one a perfect camp tool, and the other bred for war.

Sarge - thanks. I'm pretty sure there will be another run. :D

We'd have to use the Jaws-o-Life to detach it from your side...

Sorry fellas...

It's not fair to the ones that have to ship overseas...while the rest just pay the Priority Mail price.

Maybe in the future, we'll do a international pass-around that will require contributions to a pot to fund all the shipping, etc.

with you on the bred for war tool. That 16.5" WWII is heavy enough to do some real damage and light enough to carry on patrols. To be present when needed.:D

heh heh...I'm in, Dan. Don't mind some light cosmetic touches?

Dont worry, here's a skilz czech:

US only? Just think of all the fun you are missing with various customs folks around the world. "No, I didn't buy it. No, it's not a gift. It's only going to stay in the country five days. I'm just going to look at it for five days and then I'm sending it to Madagascar. Honest."

Sure. Give me $75 USD, you crook!

"Light" touches...?

Ain't nuthin lite about the nomer "Ferrous Wheel"...:D ;)

Keith - you are welcome to do whatever you want to it as long as it can still be mailed to the next person. :p Your work is, of course, beautiful, very well done and appreciated by all.

Hey, no fair! Ferrous was supposed to work on my Pen Knife, and then I wouldn't have to share it with anybody!! Nanner-nanner-boo-boo!

Oh all right, I guess he could practice on the pass-around one first :D

Pen, I'd like to join. If shipping isn't going to cost to much (under $10 is okay). I'll send an email shortly.

-- edit --

If no one objects to me doing some one armed testing that is.:)

My plan is to try to keep it Zone 4 at max, which comes up around $9 including insurance. So, yes, it will definitely be under $10.
