Pen Knife Pass Around Thread

I looked at the shipping map, and the Pen knife has to go right through my house to get to Yvsa. Since it'll be there anyway, I'm *forced* to petition for slot 9 1/2 on the list.

:D

:D:D

You're on the list and that makes 10!

now in geographical order

1. Rob (MauiRob)
2. Rick (ArchAngel)
3. Bob (Bobwhite)
4. Keith (Ferrous)
5. Chris (SkagSig40)
6. Heber (wildmanh)
7. Steven (im2smrt4u)
8. Tom (Shappa)
9. Erik (Tohatchi NM)
10. Yvsa

I will package up the Pen Knife and send it off either tomorrow or Friday.

As stated, no review is necessary (although all honest opinions will be accepted graciously). I'm not interested in y'all patting my back on this one, I want some serious input on the design - its strengths and weaknesses - also, its best applications, etc.

If we average 3-5 days testing and 3-4 days shipping...add a little extra for Keith to work his magic and this should be on its way back sometime in March. That's ok with me. If you love it, let it go, right? :D:D

Maybe I'll have a special homecoming ceremony when it gets back...

Rob - Shoot me an email when you get it and I'll start a new pass-around thread for any comments, etc.

Bill - as usual...Ivan gets the shaft :p ...did you know that firemen in Siberia make the same monthly pay that the ones in Moscow get? That's right...around $50 per month. It's paid by the government and not individual provinces, etc. That's why most folks work several jobs out there...just to keep warm at night...

I think it's time to go update my Thanksgiving list: "I'm thankful for..."

Will do!:) And thanks again for doing this--makes me feel good to see someone trusting people like this, and to be one of those you're trusting.

I have made a beast of a box. It is super sturdy and should be able to take quite a beating. I made it specifically to be able to be used over and over again. There is no loose paper, or foam peanuts, etc. The padding is all secured inside.

Also, it is double boxed.

This is what it will look like when it arrives:

Just cut along the seam between the 2 boxes and they will slide apart.

Remove the Pen Knife (rolled in bubble wrap and loose in the box).

Put it to work for 3-5 days.

When you are finished...;)

Wrap it back up in the bubble wrap and wedge it back in the smaller box, which then goes back into the larger box.

It is a tight fit (on purpose) and will probably take some coercing.

Tape back over the seam and put on a new address label.

Sorry if it sounds like I am insulting your intelligence...I trust you all. Just that it's better when there's a clear set of rules. Hopefully, it will go smoothly with no problems.

Yep, got all the info via email.

I explained a passaround to a fellow worker. He looked at me like I was nuts. "you mean some guy you never met is sending you a knife to use, then you send it on to someone else. on and on, eventually he's supposed to get his knife back, used...and no one is just gonna keep it!?"
"Umm, yep. Cool, huh?"

I can't wait for my wifes reaction...
"You got another KNIFE!?"

"well, I don't get to keep this one"

"What are you trading it for?"

"Nothing, I just don't get to keep it. I gotta mail it to some guy in New Mexico"

"!!!???"

Nice box. I would have kept the box, put the knife in a paper bag and put a stamp on it. :D

Good thing I'm not on the list eh?

ROTFLMAO!:D :D

Great idea Dan! Nope, not insulting any intelligence here--cause there ain't any to start with:D I can't wait to be the first to check it out!:)

Yep, pretty darn cool isn't it?:) Stuff like this really reinforces my belief in the good in people and cancels out a lot of the bad---that may sound hokey, but I mean it.

Great!!:)

I doubt I'll be able to get together with Rick after all, however:( My wife has been put on total bedrest for the rest of her pregnancy--so wherever I go my daughter goes...kind of puts the kiebash on knife talk for the most part (she's 2, need I say more? ). But who knows? Maybe we could try and speak 1 or 2 uninterupted sentences:D:D;)

But if I do have to send it Rick should get it in one day or two at most:)

I am sorry to hear that your wife is having troubles with her pregnancy. I hope all goes smoothly with the help of bedrest and your attention to her needs. Maybe we can get together this coming summer. Life is long and we have lots of time!:D ;)

Thanks Rick:) I'm sure she'll do well like she did last time--same deal bedrest and meds etc...

Check you email--I should have sent it BEFORE I posted this...I often engage fingers before brain when typing:o :)

Just chop the end off with your WWII. :p

Since I got to play with my wife's new digital camera today, I'll post a pic here of my Pen knife with its companion karda made by Art. Sort of a little appetizer before the main course. :)

You know it might be fun to have each person snap a picture of either themselves holding the knife in their yard etc.. or the knife by itself in its new surroundings...Kind of a "where in the world is Pen knife" project.

What do you think?:)
