I've been buying a number of Sheffield pen knives lately. Here is one that I acquired this week. Made by George Butler & Co. It has stainless steel blades so most likely was made in the inter-war period. I tried to capture some of the craftsmanship involved. The photos of the handle show some interesting patterns... looks like a storm brewing on the left side of the pearl.

Here's the only "pen" knife I have - it was my Grandfather's whittling knife. 1940-1964 Case 06247 pen. Really it's a two blade stockman.

Hi Zip7. That is very nice old redbone. Looks like a serpentine pen knife to me. Great that you have a keepsake from your Grandfather. Thanks for sharing it.

Those are beautiful, especially the filework on the pearly. I recently picked up a couple of pens, including an old Sheffield, though it's nowhere near as nice as that. I'll try to post some pics.

I just received my first pen knife. I mentioned it in a few threads lately, a CAMCO 572... It snaps closed like a bear trap! It's a Senator like the Sheffield pictured, but it has small bolsters on the ends. How can I post a pic?

Sweet, S-K! It practically screams Atlantic Ocean. The scales definitely look like an active sky. The pattern on the blades and spring makes me think clam. That's one to gaze on and let it tell you stories.

Hi kevins73cigars. I'm not sure what option you have with your status. I think as a registered user you can post links to another site (e.g., e.g. photbucket) where you have your photos stored. If you upgrade your membership then you can insert them into your post. That's about all I know. Looking forward to seeing your knives.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Much appreciated.

Smiling is right - you can store your pic online and link to it from here. I run a half a dozen decent sized websites, so I can host my own. Photobucket and Flickr works for those who don't have webspace of their own.

I don't think I have posted this one here before. Many of you saw my Alpha Hawkbill. This is its little cousin. The Alpha and the coronet on the small pen blade are the trademarks of Harrison Bros and Howson. It also is marked Cutlers to his Majesty which I believe in this instance refers to Edward c1901-1910

Here are pretty much all of the pen knives I have right now. Top one is from the thirties marked Clauss(by S&M), next is by A.W. Wadsworth, third down is by W.H. Morley & Sons. The bigger one below that is marked E. Dirlam, Solingen. I would love some info on the maker is anyone has any. Next is a Cattaraugus I bought for the shield, then Camillus, H. Boker & co, Ulster, Robeson, and last a Clover Brand (Camillus). I think I need to get some Sheffield ones. There is a noticeable lack of Sheffield knives in my collection.

That is a very nice set of pen knives Rivit. A good mix of handles. I like those little tip bolsters on many of them.

Not to be a joiner, but "ditto". Man, those are nice. I can see my collection needs some work.

There's something about these little knives that really appeal to me.

Have shown this before but can't help myself. Apologies for the repetition. Wade, Wingfield & Rowbotham from the late 1800s.

I really love the way those stag handles look on a pen knife. I particularly like the ones with no bolsters.

O.K. I'm giving it a shot. Here's my latest two pen knives...

White one says "Camillus USA" on the tang and "572" on the reverse. The gold one says "Colonial Providence USA" on the tangs. Any info on either would be appreciated. I just got them this week. Both are mint condition. I think I'm going to give the Colonial to my dad and trade the Camillus in the forum/sticky... It just doesn't fit in with the rest of my collection.

cool knives kevins73cigars. Your photo links worked perfectly.

Thanks for the feedback Rivit.

Here is another Harrison Brothers and Howson pen knife probably from the interwar period. The blades are stainless or as they call it Alpha Rustless.

Here is a pen knife of my grandfather's that I cleaned up. I didn't know Ka-bar made pen knives, anyone know when it might've been made?

I recently saw a Ka-bar Canoe that was made by Queen. Queen makes small folding knives for several other brands. Perhaps they made your grandfather's Ka-bar pen knife. I'm just guessing so I'm most likely wrong.
