pencil emergency light

A solution in need of a problem, indeed. Also, those wires could easily cross and short, without the graphite resistor. That would be a bit worse than a flat tire.

High-performance compact flashlights competitive with Surefire can be had for $15-$60 nowadays. Why bother with such a dangerous technique?

You'd also lose the use of one hand to hold it if you don't have a helper. I can change a tire in the dark.:D

Surely it's more practical to MacGyver an arc welder than to carry a tiny, inexpensive LED flashlight. Interesting that they assume you'll have a knife to to split a pencil and strip wires, though.

My son just watched and said how can you sort the wires and stuff when it's dark ?

I'm with you guys: it looks like fun on the bench, but it's no 12V trouble light or MiniMag.

I can just imagine the firefighters saying "You tried to do WHAT ?":D
